Council Minutes July 2, 2020 – 7:00 p.m. Regular Meeting The Pinson City Council met in regular session at the Storm Shelter located at 5340 Miles Spring Road, on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Mayor Sanders led the invocation. Councilor Tanner led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Roll Call: Marie Turner, City Clerk, called roll of Pinson City Council with the following council members present: Mayor Sanders Councilor Tanner Councilor Galamore Councilor Roberts Councilor Churchwell Councilor McCain Minutes: Councilor Roberts offered a motion to waive the reading of the June 18, 2020, minutes. Councilor Churchwell duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Councilor Churchwell made a motion to accept the minutes as written of the June 18, 2020, Special Called meeting. Councilor McCain duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. As there was no discussion, Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Mayor Sanders" Let the record reflect both motions passed unanimously". Committee Chair Comments: Finance: Councilor Tanner offered a motion to pay the bills in the amount of $44,376.78, a copy of the bills schedule is attached. Councilor McCain duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. After some discussion, Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Mayor Sanders "Let the record reflect the motion passed unanimously." Old Business: None. New Business: Councilor Roberts offered a motion authorizing the purchase of a new Z Turn mower, in the amount of $12,100.00. Councilor McCain duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for any discussion. As there was no discussion, Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say "no", all in favor say "aye." Mayor Sanders" Let the record reflect the motion passed unanimously". Mayor Sanders offered a first reading of an agreement with Jefferson County concerning the COVID-19 expense grant. Mayor Sanders mentioned there will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Storm Shelter at the conclusion of this meeting. Councilor Tanner moved to adjourn. Councilor Churchwell duly seconded the motion. Mayor Sanders called for all opposed to say “no”, all in favor say “aye”. Motion carried.
