MINUTES OF PIPERTON BOARD OF MAYOR AND COMMISSIONER SPECIAL CALLED WORK SESSION January 11, 2023 5:00 P.M. The Piperton Board of Mayor and Commissioners met in a Special Called Work Session on January 11, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Hall. Board members: Mayor Henry Coats, Vice-Mayor Mike Binkley, Commissioner David Crislip, Commissioner Russ Fletcher and Commissioner Bret Morris were present along with City Manager Steve Steinbach. City Recorder Beverly Holloway was absent. Agenda item 1. Call to Order Mayor Henry Coats called the work session to order at 5:00 p.m., and established that a quorum was present. Agenda item 2. City Departments (Overview) Mr. Steinbach discussed the various Governmental Charter Forms; gave an overview of Piperton’s Charter as well as department staffing/personnel. Discussion ensued regarding Police Department issues with Commissioner Morris requesting a follow up meeting with the City Attorney. Agenda item 3. Water and Sewer Infrastructure Improvements (Current/Future) Mr. Steinbach discussed ARP Funding and Capital projects to be funded with this money. Discussion ensued. Agenda item 4. Community Capital Improvements (Piper House, Piper Park, Fire/Police Facility) There was a brief discussion regarding current community related Capital Projects including Piper House and Piper Park. Agenda item 5. Economic Development Opportunities (New Development) Mayor Coats gave a brief overview of potential new projects on the horizon. Discussion ensued. Agenda item 6. Commissioner Roles Mr. Steinbach discussed assignments of areas of specialization for each Commissioner. The Commission indicated an interest in this to be addressed at a future Board Meeting. Agenda item 7. Adjournment Mayor Coats moved to adjourn the work session, seconded by Vice-Mayor Binkley.
