TOWN OF PITTSBORO BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AUGUST 25, 2022 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES PAGE 1 OF 2 TOWN OF PITTSBORO The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners met in Special Session on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 3:00pm at Town Hall with Mayor Cindy Perry presiding. The meeting was called to order at 3:05pm. ELECTED TOWN OFFICIALS PRESENT: Mayor Cindy Perry, Mayor Pro Tern Pamela Baldwin, Commissioner John Bonitz, Commissioner Jay Farrell, Commissioner Kyle Shipp, and Commissioner James Vose. TOWN STAFF PRESENT: Town Attorney Paul S. Messick. CLOSED SESSION Mayor Perry called for a motion to enter Closed Session. Commissioner Shipp made a motion to enter Closed Session pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11.(a)(6) pertaining to the appointment of an Interim Town Manager, seconded by Commissioner Farrell. Vote: Aye-5 Nay-0 Mayor Perry: NIA Mayor Pro Tern Baldwin: Aye Commissioner Bonitz: Aye Commissioner Farrell: Aye Commissioner Shipp: Aye Commissioner Vose: Aye Motion Passed. The Board engaged in a Closed Session conversation. Commissioner Bonitz made a motion to exit the Closed Session, seconded by Commissioner Farrell. Vote: Aye-5 Nay-0 Mayor Perry: NIA Mayor Pro Tern Baldwin: Aye Commissioner Bonitz: Aye Commissioner Farrell: Aye Commissioner Shipp: Aye Commissioner Vose: Aye TOWN OF PITTSBORO BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AUGUST 25, 2022 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES PAGE 2 OF 2 Motion Passed. After returning to Open Session, the Board announced Mr. Hazen Blodgett as the candidate for Interim Town Manager to succeed outgoing Town Manager Chris Kennedy. The Board expressed they were interested in extending an offer to Mr. Blodgett for the position. The Board did not take any action to allow Mr. Blodgett to consult with his family about the position and to allow him time to prepare a employment agreement proposal for the Board to consider. The Board offered that they would also consult with Town Attorney Paul Messick about the terms of the employment agreement. ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Mayor Perry called for a motion to adjourn. Mayor Pro Tem Baldwin made a motion to adjourn at 4:35pm, seconded by Commissioner Bonitz. Vote: Aye-5 Nay-0 Mayor Perry: NIA Mayor Pro Tem Baldwin: Aye Commissioner Bonitz: Aye Commissioner Farrell: Aye Commissioner Shipp: Aye Commissioner Vose: Aye Motion Passed.
