CITY OF PLACERVILLE RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION November 20, 2019 MINUTES PRESENT: Recreation & Parks Commission: Jerry Barton, Kristin Becker, Andrew Mathews, Jackie Neau, and High School Representative Tiffany Brewster. Recreation & Parks Staff: Terry Zeller and Matt Lishman. ABSENT: Peter Nolan, Commissioner. GUESTS: ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Mrs.Becker made a motion to approve the agenda. Ms. Brewster seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mrs. Becker made a motion to approve the minutes of October 16, 2019. Mr. Barton seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: None ACTION ITEMS: None ACTION ITEMS: 2020 Aquatics Fee and Program Schedule: Mr. Lishman shared the proposed schedule and fees for the 2020 Aquatic Season. Mary Marks complained about lifeguards swimming in the lanes during lap swim. Beth Fellmann said she likes it when the staff swim. County recommends healthy snacks at the snack bar. Bonnie Morse West has a concern with the water exercise class fees. Bonnie suggested aquabucks be used for lap swim. Beth Fellmann stated how well kept the facility is used. There was a problem with leaf blowing and breathing in the fumes during. Beth thinks the timing is great. It’s easy to park and the pool is clean and immaculate. Doctors and therapists should know about this program so they know this program is available. Would love to have a Placerville Aquatics Center T-Shirt! Would be really great to have aquatics center t-shirts available for purchase. Mr. Barton thinks it all sounds reasonable and stated that if someone went to a yoga class it would probably cost at least $8.00. Mr. Barton made a motion to approve staff’s recommendations of the 2020 Aquatics Fee and Program Schedule and encourages staff to explore options to reducing the water exercise fees to the extent feasible, and explore options for healthy snacks and selling or providing t-shirts. Mrs Becker seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. STAFF REPORTS: Youth Assistance Fund: Mr. Lishman reported that since the last report there were 51 requests for funding in the amount of $2,884.50. We received $75.00 in donations and $475.00 from our account with the El Dorado Community Foundation. The projected fund balance is $4,278.77. Meeting adjourned at 7:02 pm
