Recreation and Parks Commission Meeting

CITY OF PLACERVILLE RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION April 21, 2021 MINUTES PRESENT: Recreation & Parks Commission: Kristin Becker, Andrew Mathews, Kelley Rogers, Mark Sandperl, and Steven Vance. Recreation & Parks Staff: Terry Zeller and Matt Lishman. ABSENT: High School Representative Tiffany Brewster. GUESTS: ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Mr. Mathews made a motion to adopt the agenda. Mr. Sandperl seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mrs. Becker made a motion to approve the minutes of March 17, 2021. Mr. Mathews seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: None ACTION ITEMS: Nomination and Selection of Chair and Vice Chair: Mrs. Becker nominated Mr. Mathews as the Chair. Motion approved unanimously. Mr. Mathews nominated Mrs. Becker as the vice Chair. Motion approved unanimously. Aquatics Program Schedule: Mr. Lishman shared with the Commission as the Placerville Aquatic Center continues to work toward safely reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic, significant changes need to be made to the program calendar for Aquatics. The COVID-19 guidelines from the State specify that our pool capacity be decreased coinciding with continually changing State guidelines. In addition, our ability to hire staff has been seriously hampered due to cancelled Aquatics programming during the summer of 2020. Mr. Lishman shared the overall schedule of programs for the 2021 summer season. Mr. Lishman stated the schedule may be altered slightly, based on a possible future increase in staffing levels and potential changes to statewide programming guidelines. Mr. Lishman also shared with the commission that capacity numbers will be dependent on current State guidelines and that participants will be able to pre-register for our drop-in programs for specific days and times. Lap Swimmers Arlene Jones, Mary Marks, and Jim Cahil all expressed their concern that the pool is not open long enough. Mr. Vance made a motion to approve staff's recommendation of the program schedule for the Placerville Aquatics Center, effective June 5, 2021. Mrs. Becker 2 nd the motion. Motion approved unanimously. STAFF REPORTS Recreation for Youth Fund: Mr. Lishman reported that since the last report there were 0 requests for funding. The projected fund balance is $4,713.77. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm
