Recreation & Parks Commission Meeting

CITY OF PLACERVILLE RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION May 20, 2015 MINUTES PRESENT: Recreation & Parks Commission: Andrew Mathews, Peter Nolan, Jackie Neau and Richard Zito. Recreation & Parks Staff: Steve Youel and Matt Lishman. ABSENT: Jerry Barton, Commissioner GUESTS: None ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Mr. Nolan made the motion to approve the agenda with a recommendation to move item 4 to item 1. Mr. Mathews seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mr. Mathews made the motion to approve the minutes of February 18, 2015. Mr. Nolan seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: None STATUS REPORTS: Youth Assistance Fund: Mr. Lishman reported that there were 19 requests since our last meeting in the amount of $628.50. There was $775.00 in donations. The projected fund balance is $3,507.32. Special Events on El Dorado Trail: Mrs. Neau stated that the County is still working on their plan so there is no update at this at this time. El Dorado Trail Striping: Mr. Youel reported that City staff will be doing some striping on the El Dorado Trail this fall and asked for input regarding mileage markers. The general consensus of the group was to continue with the marking previously established by the County of El Dorado. Picnic Tables – Lance Gunnersen: Mr. Youel reported that a recommendation was approved by City Council to donate approximately 4,800 linear feet of reclaimed lumber to El Dorado High School Industrial Technical Education Department in exchange for two, eight-foot picnic tables and other park amenities. Justin Jumper, a student at El Dorado High School presented his bench design and stated that the cost to build a bench would be approximately $200-$300. There were other bench designs presented. Mrs. Neau stated that she preferred the steel design over concrete as concrete is hard to deal with if it gets vandalized. It was also recommended to stay away from any moving parts. Mr. Youel suggested we start putting benches in at Lumsden Park. Mr. Youel will work with Mr. Gunnersen to come up with a plan for the next school year. ACTION ITEMS: Request for Free Pool Passes: Mr. Lishman made a recommendation to approve a request to provide five “Aqua Bucks” free of charge to the Sierra School Parent Club. The Club is hosting a fund raiser on May 21, 2015. The money they raise during this event is for their F.A.M.E. (Fine Arts Mini Experience) program. Mr. Nolan made a motion to approve the donation of 5 Aqua Bucks. Mr. Zito 2nd seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm.
