Recreation & Parks Commission Meeting

CITY OF PLACERVILLE RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION January 26, 2023 MINUTES PRESENT: Recreation & Parks Commission: Mark Sandperl, Kristin Becker, Andrew Mathews Recreation & Parks Staff: Matt Lishman, Terry Zeller ABSENT: Kelley Rodgers and Steven Vance, Commissioners. GUESTS: None ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Commissioner Becker made a motion to adopt the agenda. Commissioner Sandperl seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Becker made a motion to approve the minutes of October 19, 2022. Commissioner Sandperl seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: None ACTION ITEMS: None STAFF REPORTS: Projects for this and next Fiscal Year: Mr. Zeller presented the staff report for projects for these projects, and fielded some questions from the commission about timing and how costs were derived. Chris Gaither shared his concerns with Lighting at Lions Park, Lower Field at night, there are still shadows at night. Home plate is dark, controllers for scoreboards, it’s disheartening for the list to not have more tree trimming. Would like to see the fields have more attention. Richard Hughes, discussed pickleball and use of tennis courts as a tournament backup. Craig Lorenzi stated he is concerned with hearing about the field improvements, will be happy about the changes. Wanted to know about the LED lighting project. Jeremy Butler questioned on the shortened season and asked if anything could be done in regards to not getting all games in the fall played, starting to be a boycott, don’t see a lot of action, what is going on with Folsom offers a lower cost for local teams. Commissioner Becker stated the lighting is very concerning to her, it needs to be a priority. Also liked the idea of painting of the pickleball lines on the tennis court. Reasonable to reducing fees for the teams that lost out on games last fall. Provide transparency on the issues of the league. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm.
