CITY OF POCATELLO, IDAHO CITY COUNCIL LIAISON WORKING LUNCH OCTOBER 5, 2017 Mayor Brian Blad called the City Council Liaison Working Lunch to order at 1:16 p.m. Council members present were Heidi Adamson, Roger Bray, Steve Brown, Jim Johnston and Michael L. Orr. Also in attendance was Konni Kendell, Deputy City Clerk and Heather Buchanan, Human Resources Director. Council member Gary Moore was excused. Heather Buchanan, Human Resources Director, updated the Mayor and Council on an HR issue. Council discussed code enforcement topics and asked to have staff come before the Council at a Study Session to discuss policies and procedures. Mayor Blad was excused at 1:52 p.m. Ms. Buchanan was excused at 1:58 p.m. Discussion centered on Boards/Committees the Council are liaison to and general City topics. No formal action was taken. Ms. Adamson gave an update on NeighborWorks Pocatello activities. Ms. Adamson gave an update on the African Sister City Committee and noted the Committee is still having a problem getting a quorum for meetings. The committee is considering changing the date and time of meetings. Ms. Adamson gave an update on Parks and Recreation department activities. Mr. Orr gave an update on Airport Commission activities. He reported that the raceway at the Airport has a new lease holder. He gave an update on Historic Preservation Commission activities. He reported on Animal Shelter Advisory Board activities. Mr. Brown gave an update on Pocatello Development Authority activities and shared general economic development information. Council expressed their expectations of Bannock Development Corporation as the City’s representative for economic development and discussed their desire for a quarterly Study Session update with BDC. They also discussed business operations and standards related to REDI. Mr. Johnston gave an update on Bannock Transportation Planning Organization activities. He also gave an update on Library Board activities. Mr. Johnston updated the Council on Housing Authority activities and stated he would still like to see more activity toward providing additional affordable housing in Pocatello. He also gave an update on Pocatello Arts Council activities. Mr. Bray gave an update on Community Development Block Grant activities and Human Relations Advisory Committee activities.
