At this time, the general public is invited to address the Historic Preservation Commission concerning any items City of Pomona Page 2 Printed on 1/27/2022 Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Agenda February 2, 2022 that are not listed on the agenda, which are not public hearings, or other items under the jurisdiction of the Historic Preservation Commission. Comments from the public of any non agenda items will be limited to three (3) minutes in accordance with City policy. 2. Any applicant or member of the public wishing to speak on any item that is listed on the agenda is requested to adhere to the following protocol procedures/guidelines: a) When called upon, the person shall state his /her name and address for the record, and, if speaking for an organization or other group, identify the organization or group represented. Whenever any group of persons wishes to address the Historic Preservation Commission on the same subject matter, the Chairperson may, at his /her discretion, request that the group choose a spokesperson to address the Commission. b) All remarks should be addressed to the Historic Preservation Commission as a whole, and not to individual Commissioners. Questions, if any, should be directed to the presiding Chairperson who will determine whether, or in what manner an answer will be provided. 3. Approval of Historic Preservation Commission Action Minutes meetings of October 6, 2021, November 3, 2021 and December 1, 2021. Major Certificate of Appropriateness (MAJCOA 16805-2021) Project Address: 359 West Chester Place City of Pomona Page 3 Printed on 1/27/2022 Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Agenda February 2, 2022 Project Applicant: Rosemary Cerda Project Planner: Alan Fortune, Assistant Planner Council District: CC District No. 1 A Major Certificate of Appropriateness (MAJCOA 16805-2021) to convert an existing enclosed patio to a master bedroom addition on a contributing resource on a property located within the Wilton Heights Historic District. Pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA Public Resources Code, Section 21084 et. seq.), this project could qualify for a Categorical Exemption in compliance with Article 19, Section 15301 (Class 1 - Existing Facilities). Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Historic Preservation Commission approve MAJCOA 16805-2021 and adopt Resolution No. 2022-004. Certificate of Appropriateness (MAJCOA 16354-2021) Project Address: 395 South Thomas Street Project Applicant: John Pena Project Planner: Geoffrey Starns, Historic Preservation Supervisor Council District: CC District No. 1 A Major Certificate of Appropriateness (MAJCOA 16354-2021) to add a fourth story, add an exterior fire escape, add an addition to the first floor, and various on -site improvements, in order to rehabilitate an existing historic landmark (Masonic Temple) to a mixed-use structure located at 395 S. Thomas Street. Pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA Public Resources Code, Section 21084 et. seq.), this project could qualify for a Categorical Exemption in compliance with Article 19, Section 15331. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Historic Preservation Commission continue the item to the March 2, 2022 Historic Preservation Commission meeting.
