BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY Regular Meeting March 22, 2022 10:30 AM Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Lynch at 10:30A.M. Members Present: Mayor Lynch, Jamie Lewis, Scott Williams, and Stephanie Young-Johnson. Also, present was Clerk-Treasurer Nina Rivas and Attorney Dan Whitten. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: Member Lewis made a motion to table the March 8, 2022, minutes; Member Young-Johnson seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: Member Collins joined the meeting. Crack Sealing Project Bids National Industrial Maintenance: $68,364.00 Pavement Solutions: $63,300.00 Russell Standard Corp.: $59,502.00 Member Williams made a motion to take the bids under advisement pending legal review; Member Lewis seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays Tag Day Request – Chief’s Baseball Member Williams made a motion to approve the Tag Day Request; Member Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays Tag Day Request – Portage Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth League Member Lewis made a motion to approve the Tag Day Request; Member Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays Solicitor Permit Request – The Weed Man Assistant Police Chief Uzelac stated there was some discrepancies with some of their background checks and that the department could not offer a favorable recommendation at this time. Member Lewis made a motion to deny the solicitor permit request; Member Williams seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays BULK ITEM APPEALS: 1979 Driftwood Superintendent Reeder requested that the Board waive the Bulk Item Fee for 1979 Driftwood. Member Lewis made a motion to waive the bulk fee; Member Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays CLAIMS Member Lewis made a motion to approve the claims; Member Young-Johnson seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays MAJOR ILLNESS: Member Williams made a motion to approve seven (7) MI Claims and one (1) Covid-19 Claim; Member Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays BOARD OF WORKS MARCH 22, 2022 PAGE 2 OTHER BUSINESS: Local 150 Representatives addressed the Board regarding outstanding grievances. Clerk-Treasurer Rivas stated that Grievance 21-7702 had been paid. To her knowledge Grievance 21-7703 had been paid. She will follow up with payroll to confirm. Amy Armstrong addressed the Board regarding a Special Event Request for Prayer’s for Ukraine, at 6 p.m., Monday, March 28th. Member Lewis made a motion to approve the Special Event Request, Member Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch stated that if the weather was inclement, the event would move to City Point Church. She further stated that if parking became an issue and people had to park away from the church, the church offered shuttle people with one of their buses/vans. Motion passed. 5 yes – 0 nays ADJOURNMENT Mayor Lynch entertained a motion to adjourn. Member Williams made a motion to adjourn, Member Collins seconded the motion.
