BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY Regular Meeting August 23, 2022 10:30 AM Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was called to order by Member Williams at 10:30 A.M. Members Present: Joetta Collins, Jamie Lewis, Stephanie Young-Johnson, and Scott Williams. Also, present was Michelle Walbright and Attorney Dan Whitten. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: Member Lewis made a motion to approve the August 9, 2022 minutes; Member Williams seconded the motion. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Special Event Request-Windows of Light Counseling Services Member Collins made a motion to approve the request; Member Lewis seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays NEW BUSINESS: AJ Monroe opened bids for Airport Road & Lute Road Traffic Signal Hawk Enterprises bid was $267,107.90 Midwest Electric bid was $374,196.60 Member Lewis made a motion to take the bids under advisement; Member Young-Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays AJ Monroe requested permission to seek quotes for street light and traffic signal maintenance. Member Lewis made a motion to allow quotes to be sought for street lights; Member Collins seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays Member Lewis made a motion to allow quotes to be sought for traffic lights; Member Young-Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays Chief Wilkening requested permission to adopt a Memorandum of Understanding on Lateral Transfer Process. Member Collins made a motion to approve contingent upon Council approval and legal review; Member Young-Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays Chief Candiano requested approval of the Body Cam Purchase and service agreement in the amount of $335,750.00. Member Collins made a motion to approve contingent upon Council review and approval; Member Lewis seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays BULK ITEM APPEALS: Superintendent Reeder brought an appeal from 3101 May Street, he reached an agreement with the resident to reduce the charge from $300.00 to $150.00 pending Board Approval. Member Lewis made a motion to approve; Member Young Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays CLAIMS Member Lewis made a motion to approve the claims in the amount of $647,883.96; Member Young- Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays MAJOR ILLNESS: Member Collins made a motion to approve four (4) MI Claims and three (3) Covid claims; Member Young- Johnson seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays OTHER BUSINESS: Superintendent Reeder brought a quote for two (2) new Snow Plows to be approved using previously approved ARP funds. Member Collins made a motion to approve the quote for $595,806.00 for snow plows; Member Lewis seconded the motion. Member Williams requested input from the board. Motion passed. 4 yes – 0 nays ADJOURNMENT Member Williams entertained a motion to adjourn. Member Lewis made a motion to adjourn; Member Collins seconded the motion.
