Minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting BOARD OF PARKS AND RECREATION City of Portage, IN November 17th, 2020 5:30 PM Woodland Park Community Center A&B. Call to Order and Roll Call The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Portage Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by Board President Ciesielski at 5:35 PM. This meeting was held virtually by order of the Governor due to Covid-19. Board members Ciesielski, Maletta, Warchus, Lee and Hill were present. Superintendent Wilkie, City Council liaison Gina Giese-Hurst, and Attorney Mindel were also present. C. Minutes - The Board proceeded to review the minutes of the Regular Park Board meeting of October 19, 2020. Member Maletta made a motion to accept the minutes as written and submitted. A second was made by Member Warchus. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. D. Financial Report - The Board reviewed the financial report for October 2020. Member Hill made a motion to approve the report, with a second from Member Lee. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. E. Vouchers - The Board reviewed the vouchers as listed on the official Register of Accounts Payable Vouchers for October 2020. Member Warchus made a motion for the Board to approve and pay the said vouchers, as listed, written, and submitted. A second was made by Member Hill. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. F. Contracts - a. Rental Contracts: Superintendent Wilkie presented the rental register of contracts for October/November 2020. Member Warchus made a motion to approve the contracts as submitted with a second from Member Lee. Motion passed unanimously through roll call. G. Public Presentation and Correspondence – a. Jim Kimmel, State Director, National Softball Association: Mr. Karl Swihart attended the meeting on behalf of Mr. Kimmel. He thank Portage Parks Department, Superintendent Wilkie and staff, for a great couple of years and the great relationship we have attained. He notified the Board that the Portage Parks Department will be inducted into the NSA Hall of Fame in November 2021. H. Unfinished Business: None I. New Business: a. Salary Schedule 2021: Superintendent Wilkie presented the 2021 Salary Schedule. After review, Member Maletta made a motion to approve with a second from Member Lee. Motion passed unanimously through roll call. b. Rental Refunds not already on the docket: Superintendent Wilkie presented eight refunds due to the Governor’s Orders on Covid-19. Member Hill made a motion to approve these refunds as submitted, with a second from Member Lee. Motion passed unanimously through roll call. 1  c. Proposals for the Roof Repair on Sycamore Hall: Superintendent Wilkie presented three proposals for Roof Repair to Sycamore Hall. The Three proposals received were from a) Babilla roofing for $20,141, b) Korellis Roofing for $12,430, and c) Maris & Son Roofing for $9,185. After review of the proposals, a motion was made by Member Warchus to award the project to Maris & Sons Roofing. A second was made by Member Maletta. Members Maletta, Warchus, Lee, and Ciesieski voted aye. Member Hill Abstained. Motion passed. J. Department Staff Remarks – Superintendent Wilkie provided an update. K. Any other matters and Public Comments – None. L. Next Meeting: Monday, December 21, at 5:30 p.m. M. Adjournment There being no further items of business, meeting adjourned at 6:02 pm. Member Lee made a motion with a second from Member Maletta. Motion passed unanimously through roll call.
