STATEMENT CONCERNING NOTICE OF MEETING Notice of this meeting was provided in accordance with the requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act and State regulations governing public meetings, including the time, date and location of the meeting and clear and concise instructions to the public for accessing the meeting and making comments. In addition, the agenda and all related materials were posted electronically and made available to the public on Princeton's meeting portal in advance of the meeting. III. LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT "We gather today on the land of the Lenni Lenape. As members of the Princeton community, we aspire to show appreciation, respect, and concern for all peoples and our environment. We honor the Lenape and other Indigenous caretakers of these lands and waters, the elders who lived here before, the Indigenous today, and the generations to come." PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The audience participated in the pledge of allegiance. VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS/REPORTS Council Member Brian McDonald expressed his gratitude to the Arts Council and Sustainable Princeton for putting on two successful events; Porchfest and the Sustainable Princeton event at Morven. Council Member Michelle Pirone Lambros had no reports or announcements. Council Member David Cohen had no reports or announcements. Council President Mia Sacks announced the launching of the new agenda platform and asked the Municipal Clerk to provide guidance on how to access the new platform. Council Member Leighton Newlin announced the CARES Committee will be launching a community needs assessment this summer. This will be the first comprehensive effort since Page 1 of 6 Mayor and Council of Princeton Meeting Minutes - Final April 28, 2025 2014 and it is designed to better understand the critical areas of need amongst the most vulnerable residents: low-income families, seniors, working families, and those facing daily struggles that often go unseen. The survey will cover essential areas like housing, health care, mental health, childcare, food insecurity, and more. The plan is to conduct the survey during the summer months, compile and analyze the data in the early fall, and deliver a full report and set of recommendations by November. Mayor Mark Freda had no reports or announcements. There were no staff reports or announcements. 1. Experience Princeton Report Offered by Isaac D. Kremer, Executive Director Isaac D. Kremer, Executive Director of Experience Princeton, provided Council with an update on what has been worked on over the last 30 days and what is planned for the upcoming month. First, the newsletter has been sent out to 4,830 people and there has been a 59% open rate. Next, the Tropical Smoothie ribbon cutting at the shopping center was a success. Also, Mr. Kremer advised he attended the "Main Street Now" conference in Philadelphia and some highlights from the event included the launching of a national policy agenda for Main Streets, small business support initiatives are expanding for the 175,000 small businesses in Main Street communities, and the governor of Pennsylvania committed $20 million to his Main Street communities in the next year. Lastly, their virtual meet up on April 24th focused on their gift card program, which has now exceeded over $121,000.00 in gift card sales. In the next thirty days their teams will be finalizing their work plan and budget for approval and it will be brought before Council next month. They are working with a local designer to finalize the logo for Princeton's 250th anniversary, which was paid for by a grant from Mercer County. Also, there is a new volunteer starting and they will be working 12-hours a week on a project call the "Booms Tracker", which will help monitor occupancy and vacancy in Princeton and it is part of a national initiative through Main Street America. Lastly, the "Bloom Local" promotion is highlighting businesses that excel at beautification and have attractive sidewalks and storefronts. In closing, Mr. Kremer announced that on May 8th national staff from Main Street USA will be visiting for an assessment. During the visit they will have meetings throughout the day with board members, business leaders, and elected officials. In the afternoon their findings will be shared with the Experience Princeton board at a special meeting at 4 p.m. at the Nassau Inn. This is a necessary step to achieve accreditation as a Main Street community. VII. After everyone who signed up has had the opportunity to speak, the Mayor will invite any additional comments from members of the public. Please line up at the podium if you plan to speak.
