Neighborhood District Meeting Report Neighborhood District 4 __ Meeting Date _May 29, 2024______ __ File # ____________________ Meeting conducted by (name and title): Beth Hedengren, vice-chair Number in attendance: 37 people in person in and 6 people were on Zoom Total: an estimated 43 people were in attendance. District 4 Board Members in attendance: Mel Smith, Mindy Jeppesen, Beth Hedengren, Aaron Skabelund, Leah Duncan. Also, city councilors Rachel Whipple and Gary Garrett were in attendance. Agenda Items: Chris Blinzinger: talked about emergency alert system and encouraged folks to sign up and get to know their neighbors. Vern Keeslar: • 1975 N. traffic study: concluded there is not a problem • 1460 N/Jordan Avenue crosswalk: will change crosswalk from a school to a regular crosswalk with a flashing light Vern and Dave Michelsen • 820 bridge rebuild: background and different options explained o Comments and questions about width of bridge, making the tunnel less steep, suggestion for protected bike lane, questions about encuring access on and off the trail, and about possible road widening’s impact. Provo School District Report: Gina Hale • Priorities: Academic Achievement, Wellness & Safety, Stewards of Resources • And more about facilities, etc. Report from District: Beth • Had meeting with city about Carterville utilities: asked residents to report problems as they occur • Dance Hall Permit on 1700 N: ongoing issues and not resolved. Police and Planning Commission involved. • Sober Living House in GV South: rental agreement license for 3 unrelated individuals or a single family. Encouraged residents to monitor to ensure compliance and report if not. • Questions from attendees, in person and on-line, about sober living home. Question about UDOT not cutting grass behind the speed wall between Carterville Neighborhood and University Parkway. The residents should NOT have to pester UDOT to cut it every year. Comment about 1720/State Street/Carterville intersection still being an issue, despite the changes that PW implemented last year. Question for Gina about old Grandview Elementary School property and the lack of care to its grounds. Questions about the school district’s micromobility policy is and lingering walkability concerns around Shoreline Middle School and expression of hope that council’s prioritization of active transportation and sidewalks will actually lead to physical improvements there and elsewhere.
