Consideration of the Confirmation of the Fire Chief Motion by Schultz, seconded by Goodar, to confirm the appointment of Steve Cooke as Fire Chief for the City of Richmond in accordance with Section 7.13 of the City of Richmond Charter for a one-year term commencing on March 1, 2014 and expiring on March 1, 2015. Consideration of approving the closure of a portion of Water Street/Annual Open House/Michigan Chrome Shop Motion by LaFore, seconded by Schultz, to approve the request from Michigan Chrome Shop, Inc. and authorize the closure of Water Street between Main Street and the alley entrance on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in conjunction with their annual Open House. Consideration of the Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance No. 156-14/Text Amendment Motion by Yaroch, seconded by Greene, to introduce and give first reading to Ordinance 156-14 which amends Article 6 (Design Standards for Specific Uses), Article 23 (Planning Commission) and Article 24 (Board of Zoning Appeals) of the City of Richmond Zoning Ordinance; to change the order of uses, reference the applicable state enable laws and to reduce the number of Board of Zoning Appeals Members from seven to five and schedule the same for second reading and adoption at the City Council’s March 17, 2014, regular meeting. All yeas Motion passes 4. Consideration of Bid Award/Clarkston Lane Improvement Project Motion by Goodar, seconded by LaFore, to award the Clarkston Lane Road Improvement Project to James P. Contracting Inc. in the amount of $112,720.00 with the expense charged to line item 203-462-818.000 Contractual Services; Capital Improvements: Local Street Fund. All yeas Motion passes MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS FROM THE CITY MANAGER - On Wednesday, the City Manager, Police Chief and City Planner will be going through the Police Post with Tetra Tech. - Reminded Councilors to return their calendar pages to the City Manager so we can schedule budget workshops - Attended a webinar on Parliamentary Procedure and Running Effective Meeting - Have had some success with the letters that were sent out regarding snow removal COUNCIL COMMENTS LaFore – Commented on the High School’s Sports Teams great attempts at state Championships Yaroch – Attended the Macomb County Breakfast and Politics – there was talk about how local governments have taken a lot of financial hits. Rix – Welcomed the DPS Director back.
