Consideration of Special Event Activity Request/5K Race/St. Augustine Parish City Manager Moore informed Council that the race organizers are proposing a new location for the event. They would like approval to use the hike/bike path in Beebe Street Park to conduct their charity run. The new location will no longer require the closure of nearly all or portions of Gleason, Chaskey, George, Gierk and Franklin Streets. Motion by Allen, seconded by Greene, to approve the Special Event Application from St. Augustine Parish Festival for the 2019 3K/5K Charity Walk/Run Event on Saturday, August 10, 2019 and to allow the use of Beebe Street Park hike/bike path for the run to be held from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Consideration of Special Event Activity Request/Grace Community Church/Vacation Bible School Tent Motion by Greene, seconded by Allen, to approve the special event application for a tent in conjunction with Grace Community Church’s Vacation Bible School from July 29th through August 1st, 2019, with the following requests: ● 20’ by 20’ tent encroaching into Friday Street right-of-way ● Temporary fence adjacent to tent along Friday Street All yeas Motion passes 3. Consideration of DTE Tree Grant City Manager Moore informed Council that applications were currently being received for a DTE Tree grant. A significant number of trees throughout the City have been removed due to age and condition. The DPW budget includes $4,000 for tree planting. The DTE Tree grant would increase the number of tees replanted by the City. At this time, trees would only be replanted in front of properties interested in having a street tree. Motion by Reindel, seconded by Warn, to authorize Administration to submit an application for the DTE Tree Planting Program. MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS FROM THE CITY MANAGER - Thanked the EMS, Fire Chief and Police Chief for collecting artifacts for the Historical Society’s display. - Reminder of upcoming Memorial Day Parade – need to know which Councilors will be attending. COUNCIL COMMENTS Reindel – Congratulated the 2019 graduating class Misteravich – Prior to this meeting, the Council has been conducting their budget workshop, which is open to the public. - The RPD is conducting a raffle for a Polaris ATV – tickets are available at the Police Department. - Registration is being held at the Community Center for all summer programs - Reminder of upcoming calendar events: 5/25 – Perennial Exchange 5/27 – Memorial Day Parade 6/3 – Council meeting at 7:00 pm CLOSED SESSION None.
