ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
A. Summer Programs
As our summer continues, we are looking forward to a safe and happy summer. We will
continue to offer some of our old programs while hoping to develop some new partnerships with
instructors and offer some new and exciting programs.
B. Richmond Community Pool
With all of the weather causing problems, our motor for the pool pump also stopped working.
With one of the past storms we have had, it sent a surge to the pump causing it to melt two wires
together. The VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) that controls the power to the pump is not big
enough to continue to run. We had to take the motor from the pump to HP Electric Motor in Port
Huron. It was repaired and then replaced within 24 hours. A new VFD has been ordered and a
new stainless-steel motor will be ordered to replace the existing one. Once the VFD is replaced,
it will send power to the existing pump and not run at such a “hot” temperature. The Recreation
Director, DPW Director and Parker Treend feel that the replacement of the VFD box will get us
through the end of the pool season, then allowing us to replace the motor in the pump.
There was some discussion on this topic with the Recreation Board having concerns about not
selling at least water at the concession stand. Also concerned and wondering why we are still
selling two hour time slot tickets for the pool?
