MINUTES KEEP RICHWOOD BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION MEETING Tuesday, August 06, 2024 at 6:00 PM BE IT KNOWN THAT a City of Richwood Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission will meet Tuesday, August 6, 2024, beginning at 6:00 PM at Richwood City Hall, located at 1800 Brazosport Blvd. N., Richwood, Texas 77531 with the following agenda: I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. II. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS PRESENT Tracy Bocanegra Kai York ABSENT Denise York III. PUBLIC COMMENTS There was no public comment. IV. CONSENT AGENDA A. Approval of minutes from regular meeting held July 2, 2024. Motion to approve minutes. Motion made by Tracy Bocanegra, Seconded by Kai York. Voting Yea: Tracy Bocanegra, Kai York Motion carried. V. UPCOMING EVENTS A. Fall Sweep Discussion was held on location and timing. We will hold a community-wide garage sale. November 2nd - 9-12 AM Discussion held on offering breakfast. Discussion was held on where to hold the clean up. Meet at the garden and go down OCD to Bobby Ford Park. VI. YARD OF THE MONTH August, Original Richwood The board decided to skip this month due to ongoing clean up efforts from the hurricane. VII. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS A. Discussion regarding the NexTrex Recycling Challenge and other recycling initiatives. Margaret stated she did complete the registrations. It began on August 1 and runs for a year. Kohl and Kroger are collection sites. Stores request 1-3 bags full of bags at a time. Maximum of 3 bins - free bins and posters. Bins at City Hall and possibly the schools. Posters are to be placed at City Hall and possibly the schools. Textile bins have been full and are getting emptied frequently. B. Discuss and consider setting a budget to purchase promotional and board member t-shirts. Motion to purchase not to exceed $550.00 Motion made by Tracy Bocanegra, Seconded by Kai York. Voting Yea: Tracy Bocanegra, Kai York Motion carried. C. Discussion and possible action regarding work to be done at the Community Garden, including garden bed replacement and rain barrels. Discussion was held on work that needed to be done before the rain barrels could be worked on. Discussion held that it might be better to start this discussion in September. D. Discuss and consider applying for the "Our Texas, Our Future" grant facilitated by H-E-B. Discussion held on applications. Motion to move forward. Motion made by Tracy Bocanegra, Seconded by Kai York. Voting Yea: Tracy Bocanegra, Kai York Motion carried. VIII. FINANCIAL REPORT A. Keep Richwood Beautiful Budget Report Kirsten Garcia, City Secretary, presented the budget report. IX. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT  Margaret presented. Requested info on flags. Inquired about needs from the board. X. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST No report. XI. SET NEXT MEETING DATE September 3rd, 2024. XII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Garden NexTrex Update XIII.
