Minutes of Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission Regular Meeting of Thursday, August 8, 2019 BE IT KNOWN THAT, a Regular Meeting of the Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission of City of Richwood was held Thursday, August 8, 2019, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Richwood City Hall, 1800 N. Brazosport Blvd. Richwood, Texas. I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called at 6:30 p.m. II. INVOCATION Janet Jackson-Ellis led the invocation. III. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS Janet Jackson-Ellis - Chair Brittany Figaro - Vice Chair Garry Ellis Audrey Johnson –ABSENT Kimberly Mayer Others present: Giani Cantu, City Secretary; Tara Riley IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING On motion by Kimberly Mayer second by Brittany Figaro with all present members voting “aye” the minutes of July 30, 2019 were approved. VI. REPORTS ON RECENT EVENTS No reports were given. VII. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS A. Discussion and possible action on upcoming events 1. Bench Dedication at Bobby Ford Park to Ophilia - August 10 Janet reported that an ad was placed in the Facts and that the Facts photographer will be coming as well. 2. Keep Polk Beautiful event - August 10 Kimberly reported that she is hoping to take the KRB trailer there the morning of and will be arriving at 8:00 a.m. 3. Back to School: Stuff the Car and Movie Night Event Kimberly reported there will be a Police Car available that evening – August 24th. The school has provided a list of urgent needs which will be included on the flyer. The committee needs to decide what concessions to serve and make arrangements for the bounce houses. Discussion was held on the movie and flyer. The committee decided on Trolls. Giani Cantu will create and post the flyer. 4. 2019 Fall Clean-up and City Wide Garage Sale - November 14-16 Kimberly asked if the committee was interested painting the building at Polk, or planting shrubs around, or pick up trash on 288B as the litter index showed. Brittany stated she thinks the picking up trash on 288B for the Clean-up and the Polk stuff could be done at a committee workday. Tara do we have a list of any vets that could use help cleaning their yards? Thinks it would be a great idea to help Veterans in our area. Brittany could we put something out for someone to nominate. Giani stated yes. Could use survey monkey to get it out. Janet asked it be put on a future agenda for further discussion. 5. National Night Out - October 1 Kimberly believes the committee can just have their table out there and handouts. Brittany stated she thinks it will be better to separate the kids from adult recycling stuff. 6. Trunk or Treat - October 25 Kimberly reported that she and Brittany will likely begin planning the event in September. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30. 7. Christmas in the Park - December 14 No discussion was held. 8. Future Event Recommendations No discussion was held.. B. Discussion on proposed Community Garden The subcommittee will meet on August 15th . Kimberly reported she would like to put out a survey in relation to the community garden. Tara stated she would like to be included in the community garden subcommittee. C. Discussion and possible action on scheduling a committee workday Brittany suggested revisit planning a workday until next month due to heat. D. Discussion and consider ordering business cards for KRB members Kimberly asked the committee to consider ordering business cards that will have the information on it and this way the members can handout when networking. On motion by Kimberly Mayer second by Brittany figaro with all present members voting “aye” to order business cards in an amount not to exceed $50.00. VIII. SET NEXT MEETING DATE The next regularly scheduled September 3 at 6:15 p.m. Workshop on August 22, 2019 at 12:45 p.m. IX. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Labor Day flags T-shirts design and purchase Committee Workday Yard of the Month X. ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST Statements only. No discussion is allowed. Janet thanked the committee for everything they did at All American Night and all the work they have been doing. She stated that she will be looking at going to visit with the Principal soon. Brittany stated they do need to meet with Principal to consider discussing the gardening club. Garry asked about the new sign. Giani reported that it is in the next year’s budget that will begin in October. XI. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
