Minutes of Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission The Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission Meeting of Tuesday, February 4, 2020 BE IT KNOWN THAT, a Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission Meeting of the Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission of City of Richwood was held Tuesday, February 4, 2020, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Richwood City Hall, 1800 N. Brazosport Blvd. Richwood, Texas. I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. II. INVOCATION Janet Jackson-Ellis led the invocation. III. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS Kimberly Mayer, Executive Director Brittany Figaro, Chairman Tara Riley, Vice Chairman Audrey Johnson Janet Jackson-Ellis Others present: Kirsten Garcia, City Secretary IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS There was no public comment. V. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS A. Discussion and action on obtaining a Scenic City Certification Kimberly Mayer presented the scenic city information tabled from last month. Brittany Figaro stated she likes the idea that this recognition would help foster economic development, but she is neutral on the whole thing. Kimberly Mayer stated she would like to see Richwood lead the way in obtaining this accreditation, other cities around us are probably looking in the same direction. Audrey Johnson liked the idea that someone would come in and advise us on what needs to be work on and it would maybe help us as a committee get the funding we need for certain things. Discussion held on Scenic City Certification. On motion by Audrey Johnson, second by Tara Riley, with all present members voting aye, applying for Scenic City Certification for $750.00 was approved. B. Discussion and Action on Annual Easter Egg Hunt Audrey Johnson stated she will spearhead this event. Kimberly Mayer stated we will hold it April 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Kimberly Mayer stated she will order prefilled eggs and create the Facebook event. Brittany Figaro stated she would man the 0-2 and the 2-4 age groups. Discussion held on activities to have. Janet Jackson-Ellis asked when we will hide the eggs, Brittany Figaro stated 9am. No further discussion held. C. Discussion and Action on Spring Clean Up Kimberly Mayer presented information regarding the cleanup. March theme is waterways – idea is to clean up culverts around town. April theme is don’t mess with Texas – trash pick up May theme is parks and trails – we could clean up the park. Discussion held on dates. March 28 – 2 hour clean up 10a – 12p April 18 – 2 hour clean up 10a -12p May 2 – 2 hour clean up 10a – 12p Kimberly Mayer stated she would like to set a budget for these events, but we can do it closer to the dates. D. Discussion and possible action regarding Larry Johnson Park Brittany presented an idea suggested to her by a resident. Bocce Court Equipment Discussion held on Bocce Ball court. Tabled for following meeting. E. Discuss final GCAA answers Kimberly Mayer presented the final answers to the GCAA questionnaire. Discussion held on the report. No further discussion held. F. Discussion and Action regarding Recycling Bins at Municipal Park Discussion held on emptying the recycling bins at the Municipal Park. Janet Jackson-Ellis stated she and Garry would continue to empty them. VI. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT Kimberly Mayer stated earth day is April 22, would like to visit schools during that week. Kirsten presented financials. VII. SET NEXT MEETING DATE March 3, 2020 VIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS No report. IX. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST Statements only. No discussion is allowed. X.
