Minutes of Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission The Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission Regular Meeting of September 1, 2020 BE IT KNOWN THAT, a Keep Richwood Beautiful Commission Regular Meeting of City of Richwood was held September 1, 2020, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Richwood City Hall Richwood City Hall, 1800 N. Brazosport Blvd., Richwood, Texas 77531 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. II. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS Brittany Figaro: Present Sonia Foger: Present Janet Jackson-Ellis: Present Audrey Johnson: Present Tara Riley: Absent Also, in attendance, Kimberly Mayer, Executive Director and Kirsten Garcia, City Secretary; Melissa Strawn, City Council Liaison III. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. IV. CONSENT AGENDA A. Approval of Minutes 1. Regular meeting held July 21, 2020 Motion to approve minutes from July 21, 2020. This motion, made by Audrey Johnson and seconded by Janet Jackson-Ellis, Passed. V. REPORT ON RECENT EVENTS A. Keep Texas Beautiful Conference 1 Kimberly reported that the KTB conference occurred during the Hurricane warning, so we did not complete the conference. Luckily it is all available online and we can go back and watch. We just need to pick a date and we can get it done. Discussion held on dates. Kimberly will follow up by email with dates. B. Litter Index - August 20, 2020 Brittany stated she thinks it went really well, the forms were much more clear and she thinks this year went a lot smoother than last year. Kimberly stated that Keep Texas Beautiful told her that the information will be entered in to the recognition paperwork in January and will be submitted to Keep America Beautiful. VI. UPCOMING EVENTS A. City Wide Clean Up - September 26, 2020 Kim stated she recommends that each member work shifts near the roll off bins and have volunteer T-shirts, trash grabbers and other supplies available to those who come out and help clean up. Brittany stated she will have her HOA schedule their monthly clean up for the same day and she will go around and get photos of families cleaning up. Kimberly stated she needs help keeping track of data, such as weight of debris cleaned up. We can keep track of bags passed out and average the amount a bag weighs. Discussion held on how to direct families on where to clean. Melissa and Sonia stated they will notify High School volunteer groups. Kimberly 8-9 Janet 9-10 Brittany 10-11 Sonia 11-12 B. Trunk or Treat Brittany stated she was asked about business handing out candy also. She feels that is not a good idea, as that would not be as controlled. 2 Melissa stated we could get donations of candy from businesses or residence. Brittany stated we could add sponsors to cards that are placed in the bags. Audrey recommended reaching out to the apartment complexes. VII. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS A. Discussion on signage for Ellis Park Kim stated she is still waiting on quotes for signage. As soon as she hears something, we can discuss it again. B. Discussion and possible action regarding Community Garden ribbon cutting Kimberly stated that there has been progress in the garden. The gazebo has been moved and painted, the pumpkins are doing good and we should have pumpkins toward first part of October. I will have PW start moving benches and monuments over from Freedom Park, not sure of date. Kimberly reported that next Tuesday, she will be meeting with Brazosport Cares food pantry and she is going to do drone footage of the garden and interview Kim about the coop. Kim stated she has quotes for the shed and needs held decided which size and company to go with Motion to purchase the 12X10 shed from Lowes. This motion, made by Janet Jackson-Ellis and seconded by Audrey Johnson, Passed. C. Discuss and consider September Yard of the Month Audrey chose,107 Austin’s Ct. D. Discussion and update on Art Wall Kim stated materials have been purchased. E. Discussion on Pride of Richwood Campaign Kim stated she does not have any updated information, requested to be tabled to next month. F. Discussion and possible action on landscaping for Community Garden Kim stated she has two quotes for landscaping. The City mows the lot, so we just need weed eat, edge and pull weeds. Ramirez services is $400 initially and $150 3 biweekly. TR's Lawn care quoted $60 or first visit and then $40 biweekly. I'd like to go with the cheaper option and have them start as soon as possible. Motion approve TR's lawncare for maintenance service, not to exceed $160 a month. This motion, made by Audrey Johnson and seconded by Janet Jackson-Ellis, Passed. Yea: 4, Nay: 0 VIII. FINANCIAL REPORT IX. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT Kim reported that yard signs have arrived. X. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST Litter index was completed. Filled Dirt at community garden and used grow bags XI. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Recycling Fall Sweep Pride of Richwood Yard of the Month - October Trunk or Treat Community Garden – Bluebonnets XII.
