City Council Meeting

City Council Meeting August 10, 2020 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of August 10, 2020 was called to order at 6:00 PM by President Orth. Present: Jerry Orth, Garth Zimbelman, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke Absent: Ken Skuza and Jonna Taylor Cheatley moved to approve the July 13, 2020 regular meeting minutes and special meeting minutes of August 3, 2020. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried. Zimbelman moved to approve the bills. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried. Cheatley moved to approve the agenda. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried. New Business: Cheatley moved to table Gaming Site Authorization for Spillway Café due to incorrect date on application. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried. The non-burnable pit at the landfill is nearing capacity requiring the digging of a new pit. No map is available to indicate available locations for future pits or areas previously used causing concern for long-term viability. To alleviate these space concerns, council is evaluating alternatives which include charging for non-burnable disposal or placing roll-offs at the landfill site. Auditor will research cost of roll-offs. Residents are encouraged to utilize Circle Sanitation curbside collection when possible. Reports: Auditor has been contacted by First District Health Unit for Riverdale to possibly host a future COVID testing. Zimbelman has sent an inquiry to the Corps of Engineers regarding installation of recloser in the newly constructed switchyard. No outages occurred this past month. Cheatley reported painting of the water tower has begun. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 14 at 6:00 PM.
