City Council Meeting
October 5, 2020
The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of October 5, 2020 was called to order at 6:00 PM by
President Orth.
Present: Jerry Orth, Garth Zimbelman, Dick Cheatley, Jonna Taylor and Auditor Del Kolke
Absent: Ken Skuza
Cheatley moved to approve the Sept. 14, 2020 special meeting minutes and regular meeting
minutes as amended. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Zimbelman moved to approve the bills. Taylor seconded. Motion carried.
Taylor moved to approve the agenda. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried.
Guest:
Cheatley moved to approve Maguire Iron Pay Estimate No. 11 for $82,346. Taylor seconded.
Motion carried. AJ Tuck, Ulteig Engineers, reported the water line repair and road work,
amounting to approximately $200,000, for Lawson Drive has been approved for State Revolving
Fund loan money. DL Barkie is scheduled to complete road project this week and repairing of
water line will be addressed next spring.
Public Comments:
Brenda Beran, Riverdale Times editor, requested the City include the Riverdale Times on its
website. Zimbelman moved to table until November for auditor to research any possible
conflicts. Taylor seconded. Roll Call: Zimbelman aye, Cheatley nay, Taylor aye. Motion
carried.
Kelly Berg commended council on the water tower. Several other residents have expressed
favorable comments on the logo design to council members.
Old Business:
Cheatley moved to approve 6’ variance request for proposed 8’ addition to west end of existing
shop on Lot 15 Block 1 Mariner Addition. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried.
New Business:
Cheatley moved to adopt the Local Emergency Operations Plan by resolution. Taylor seconded.
Motion carried.
Reports:
City hall will be closed Oct. 19-21.

Zimbelman has visited with Alex Taylor regarding installation of electrical service to John Adams
Addition lots. Load requirements, number of services and restrictions will be studied. Various
payment options were also discussed. No power outages occurred this past month.
Cheatley reported replacement of membranes at the water treatment facility has been
completed. Discussion with technical colleges for possible water treatment operator trainee
will be pursued.
AJ Tuck indicated McLean -Sheridan Rural Water has acquired North Central Regional Water
District territory/customers served by the Riverdale Water Treatment Facility.
Morning Star Campground has closed for the season and Taylor has begun review of rules for
next season.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 9 at 6:00 PM.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
