II. NEW BUSINESS – PUBLIC HEARINGS:
1. CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATNESS 784-21;
600 E 2nd Ave Oakdene Place Historic District Request: Rear addition
The Rome Historic Preservation Commission approved the application. Motion by Mary Sib Banks. Second by Paula
Blalock. Motion passed 5-0.
2. AMENDMENT OF CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATNESS 750-18;
100 W 2nd Ave Between the Rivers Historic District: Rear addition
The Rome Historic Preservation Commission approved the application. Motion by David
Clonts. Second by Chris Davidson. Motion passed 5-0.
III. OLD BUSINESS:
1. Grant Approval – WLA Studio – staff advised that WLA Studio has been selected for the resurveying of
the Between the Rivers Historic District.
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
1. Atlanta Preservation Center Summer Retreat – staff announced that a retreat will be held for HPC
members at the Atlanta Preservation Center at a date to be determined and that attendance is
encouraged.
V. DISCUSSION:
1. Public Art (Murals) – staff asked members to discuss the possibility of allowing murals within the historic
districts and provided some verbiage created by HPC Planner, Brittany Griffin. Members expressed
some support but also expressed caution over their limited ability to regulate such works on privately
owned property. David Clonts recommended that the discussion be tabled to allow for further
discussion.

Next Public Meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission: The next regular monthly meeting will be March
17, 2020 at 2:30 PM in the Sam King Room at 601 Broad Street.
