Chair P Brice Wood – Asst Dir. – Planning Dept Doug Walker – City of Rome Communication Public (from sign-in sheet): Timothy Tucker, Julie Smith, Bill Jones, John & Carol Sanctuary, Charity Perez Welcome and Introduction of Visitors Chair Clonts welcomed the public to the meeting and requested that all visitors sign in. CITY OF ROME CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS APPLICATIONS: • COA801-22 20 Sherwood Rd Chair Clonts opened the public hearing. Associate Planner Brittany Griffin presented the facts and the application to the Commission and the public. In Favor: Bill Jones, Architect, spoke on behalf of the project, Against: No one was present to speak in opposition Associate Planner Griffin provided the staff report and the staff recommendation of approval as submitted. Chair Clonts closed the public hearing and opened it up for Commission comments. Maloney made a motion to approve as submitted, which was seconded by Hager. The motion passed 5-0. MEMBER MEMBER M – Motion F – For A – Against S – Second AB – Abstained Paula Blalock S Jake Hager F David Clonts M Mandy Maloney F Beth Dunay F Brandi Townsend Chris Davidson 1 • COA802-22 208 Broad St Chair Clonts opened the public hearing. Associate Planner Brittany Griffin presented the facts and the application to the Commission and the public. In Favor: Timothy Tucker, Sign Installer, spoke on behalf of the project, Against: No one was present to speak in opposition Associate Planner Griffin provided the staff report and the staff recommendation of approval as submitted. Chair Clonts closed the public hearing and opened it up for Commission comments. Townsend made a motion to approve as submitted, which was seconded by Hager. The motion passed 5-0. MEMBER MEMBER M – Motion F – For A – Against S – Second AB – Abstained Paula Blalock S Jake Hager F David Clonts F Mandy Maloney F Beth Dunay M Brandi Townsend Chris Davidson • COA803-22 11 Berckman Ln Chair Clonts opened the public hearing. Associate Planner Brittany Griffin presented the facts and the application to the Commission and the public. In Favor: John & Carol Sanctuary spoke in favor of the project, Against: No one was present to speak in opposition Associate Planner Griffin provided the staff report and the staff recommendation of approval on condition that siding is fiber cement or wood siding Chair Clonts closed the public hearing and opened it up for Commission comments. Maloney made a motion to approve as submitted with staff condition that siding is fiber cement or wood siding, which was seconded by Hager. The motion passed 5-0. MEMBER MEMBER M – Motion F – For A – Against S – Second AB – Abstained Paula Blalock S Jake Hager F David Clonts M Mandy Maloney F Beth Dunay F Brandi Townsend Chris Davidson 2 OLD BUSINESS: Approval of Minutes from May 2021 meeting. Maloney made a motion to approve with corrections (below), which was seconded by Dunay and approved by common consent. Griffin stated that a spelling correction on page 1 had been corrected, Clonts stated there was a text mistake in the middle of page 3, Brandie stated that her name was misspelled . MEMBER MEMBER M- Motion S – Second C – Common Consent Paula Blalock C Jake Hager C David Clonts M Mandy Maloney S Beth Dunay C Brandie Townsend Chris Davidson ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn by Maloney. Second by Dunay. Motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 3:28 pm. Next Public meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission: The next regular monthly meeting will be: Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 2:30pm, in the Sam King Room located in City Hall, at 601 Broad Street. 3
