voted in favor.
No Public Participation on Agenda Items.
Under the Sexton’s Report, Mr. Kirk reported there were 18 funerals in July and
17 so far in August.
The next item, was the presentation to everyone in attendance, the new map of the
whole cemetery to show where all future developed blocks would be. This was done to
help the future personnel of the Cemetery to know how the blocks were going to be
developed. With the landscaping plan in place, we are looking at planting live oaks in the
corners of the blocks and we will use crab apple trees around Block 72 which is going to
be the new Baby land. When monies become available to do the trees, we will contract it
out to a nursery to buy the trees with a replacement guarantee. This will be done because
the Cemetery staff simply does not have time to do this magnitude of a project.
Under Old Business, Ms. Mitzel asked about the veteran’s cemetery. Ms.
Doerhoefer stated there was going to be a meeting with Governor Susanna Martinez, the
local veteran’s group and individuals from the Veteran’s Administration.
Under New Business, the recommendation list of people for the Mayor.
Discussion was held and Ms. Mitzel made the recommendation to appoint Ms. Millie
Schaeffer to the Board. Everyone was in favor of this recommendation. Ms. Doerhoefer
asked Ms. Chance to write a letter to the Mayor and send a copy to her by e-mail and she
would take it personally to City Hall. She wanted to make sure it would be on the next
City Council agenda.
Under Public Participation on Non Agenda Items, Ms. Doerhoefer stated she was
in attendance at a funeral and noticed a very large ant hill nearby. The Cemetery workers,
at the gravesite, stated they would make sure it was taken care of.
Ms. Chance advised the Board, the next scheduled meeting date would be
September 17, 2013 at 4 PM.
The meeting adjourned at 4:37 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
R. Myrline Chance
President
