Minutes of the Cemetery Board Meeting Tuesday, May 15, 2018 REGULAR MEETING 4:00 P.M Committee Member Present: Jack Ferguson, President Jim Bloodhart, Vice President Jeremy Hurley, Secretary Jake Trujillo, Member Juan Oropesa, Liaison Committee Members Absent: Gabriel Casaus, Member Staff Present: Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent Jim Burress, Parks and Recreation Director Gina Montague, Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant Others Present: Frank Sosa, American Legion Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by President, Jack Ferguson. Committee members present Bloodhart, Hurley, and Trujillo. Approval of Agenda Mr. Bloodhart moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Trujillo was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried, the May 15, 2018 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes Mr. Bloodhart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hurley to approve the minutes of the April 17, 2018 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried. Action 2. Discussion and Approval on Architect Contract for Columbarium Design- President Jack Ferguson entertained a motion to proceed with the approval of the contract as presented cost will come out of the Perpetual Care Fund. Mr. Bloodhart moved to approve the contract, Mr. Trujillo was second. A voice vote was unanimous and motion carried. Non-Action Items 3. Sexton’s Report- Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported a total of 35 burials for April. As of May 15 a total of 12 burial services have been conducted at South Park Cemetery and General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. 4. Bookkeeper’s Report- Mr. Esquivel reported 1 pay off, 1 lot sale, and 1 new contract for the month of April with a revenue of $31, 470.87 for the month. As of May 15 a total of 1 transfer, and 2 lot sales. 5. Discussion on Memorial Day Celebration- It was discussed that the Memorial Day Celebration would take place on Monday May 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. On Saturday prior to Memorial Day American Legion members along with other citizens would place the flags on the graves and help cemetery staff to place other flags as needed.
