Minutes of the Cemetery Board Meeting Tuesday, May 21, 2019 REGULAR MEETING 4:00 P.M Committee Member Present: Jack Ferguson, President Jim Bloodhart, Vice President Jeremy Hurley, Secretary Danny Fulkerson, Member Jason Perry, Member Juan Oropesa, Liaison Staff Present: Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent Daisy Diaz, Administrative Assistant Others Present: Rob Loftis, MRWM Architects Jake Trujillo, Guest Felix Sosa, American Legion Jaime Fierro, American Legion Stephen Lee, American Legion Jenn Lee, Guest Call to Order President, Jack Ferguson, called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. Committee members present Bloodhart, Hurley, Fulkerson, Perry and Oropesa. Approval of Agenda Mr. Bloodhart moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Hurley was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried, the May 21, 2019 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes Mr. Hurley made a motion, seconded by Mr. Fulkerson to approve the minutes of the April 16, 2019 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried. Non-Action Items 2. Welcome New Board Member- Mr. Ferguson welcomed Mr. Jason Perry to the board as the new board member. 3. Sexton’s Report- Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported 27 burials for April and as of May 21, 2019 a total of 17. Mr. Esquivel also announced that the road work had been completed and that the staff was working on preparing for Memorial Day weekend. 4. Bookkeeper’s Report- Mrs. Diaz reported 2 transfer of property, and 1 lot sale for April. As of May 21 1 new contract. 5. Discussion on South Park Cemetery Columbarium’s- Rob Loftis architect from MRWM Landscape Architects presented the board with 4 different schematic options on what the columbarium’s can look like. Schematic options presented varied in size and design. Mr. Loftis stated this was just a starting point to get an idea of what the board liked. Next step on the contract would be to take the boards input and come up with a plan. 6. Memorial Day Celebration- Mr. Jaime Fierro Post Commander for American Legion Post 28 announced that the Memorial Day Celebration would take place Monday May 27, 2019 and start at 10 a.m. Flag setting would be done in 2 portions. New Mexico Youth Challenge would set some flags on Friday and the Boy Scouts on Saturday at 8 a.m. Flags would then be picked up Monday evening. Public Comments None Chair/Staff Announcement Board President Mr. Jack Ferguson presented a plaque to Mr. Jake Trujillo as a sign of gratitude for his 18 years of service, loyalty and dedication to the Cemetery Board. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Next Meeting Date Next meeting to be held June 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
