Minutes of the Cemetery Board Meeting Tuesday, March 19, 2024 REGULAR MEETING 4:00 P.M Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10-15-4, NMSA 1978 and Resolution 24-02. A. Call to Order Vice President, Jim Bloodhart, called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. B. Roll Call Committee members present: Jim Bloodhart, Jeremy Hurley, and Jake Trujillo. Committee members absent: Danny Fulkerson Staff Present: Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent, and Daisy Diaz, Cemetery Administrative Assistant. Others Present: Juan Oropesa, Liaison C. Approval of Agenda 1. Mr. Jeremy Hurley moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Jake Trujillo seconded. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion to approve the agenda for March 16, 2024 passed 3-0 with member Danny Fulkerson being absent. D. Approval of Minutes 2. Mr. Jeremy Hurley moved to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Jake Trujillo seconded. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion to approve the minutes from January 16, 2024 passed 3-0 with member Danny Fulkerson being absent. E. Non-Action Items 3. Memorial Tree Planting- Speaker Jana Blewett was a no show to the meeting. 4. Sexton’s Report- Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported a total of 27 burials for January and 23 burials at South Park Cemetery and General Douglas McBride Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Esquivel also stated that a new employee would be starting Monday March 25, 2024. 5. Bookkeeper’s Report- Mrs. Diaz reported 3 pay-offs, 4 lot sales, 1 new contact for January and 1 pay-off, 4 lot sales, 2 new contracts for February. 6. Price Change for Outer Burial Containers- Mr. Esquivel stated the price of the containers would increase effective immediately from $350 to $437 and continue selling them as needed and at cost or purchase. 7. Discussion Cemetery Business Hours- Mr. Esquivel stated that staff does handle business as needed outside of normal business hours when required. Arrangements can be made if needed to handle business outside of normal business hours. Staff, including himself, uses the time before office opens to the public to handle other business. He also informed members that if office phone is unavailable, you can contact him on his work phone and the Cemetery Supervisor, Matt Morales. F. Public Comments None G.
