CITY OF ROSWELL – COMMISSION ON AGING MINUTES May 15, 2013 Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10-15-4 NMSA 1978 and Resolution 13-16. Commissioners present: Lynne Ybarra, Dusty Huckabee, Bob McCrea, Bonnie Montgomery, Morgan Nelson, Cindy Willard; Commissioners absent: Julie Adams and Charlie Phillips Guest Speaker: Bobbi Jo McIntire, Benefits Counselor, New Mexico Aging & Long-Term Services Department The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. by Chair Lynne Ybarra at the Historical Society Archives building. Commissioners introduced themselves to the seven guests in attendance. Morgan Nelson made a motion that the minutes of the April 17, 2013 meeting be approved. The motion was seconded and carried. Lynne Ybarra announced that Roswell city government has transitioned to a paperless system. All minutes and agendas are handled electronically. Bobbi Jo McIntire, SE Coordinator for SHIP/SMP, presented an overview of services that she can provide to seniors and veterans. She maintains a Roswell office: 1717 West Second St., Suite 201. The phone numbers are 505-795-2863 and 1-800-432-2080; BobbiJ.McIntire@state.nm.us. She will have a local phone number shortly. The date for the Commission’s annual Senior Forum is pending. There were no comments from attendees. Councilman Huckabee reported on inferior care for some residents of La Villa, Rose Garden Unit. Tina Sanchez, the SE Regional Ombudsman Coordinator, can be contacted for assistance as an advocate for residents. It was recommended that Suzy Wood be recognized for her compassionate care for residents of La Villa. The Commission will ask Mayor Jurney to prepare a proclamation to be presented to Suzy at the June meeting.
