CITY OF ROSWELL – COMMISSION ON AGING MEETING MINUTES November 20, 2013 Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections10-15-1 through 10-15-4 NMSA 1978 and Resolution 13-16. The City of Roswell Commission on Aging convened at 3:03 PM on November 20, 2013, at the Historical Society for SE New Mexico Archives Building. Present were Lynne Ybarra, Morgan Nelson, Bonnie Montgomery, Charlie Phillips, Tom Dunlap, and Bob McCrea. Commissioners absent were Julie Adams and City Councilor Dusty Huckabee. Chairperson Lynne Ybarra welcomed ten (10) guests and everyone introduced themselves. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the October 16th meeting were unanimously approved as presented with Tom Dunlap making the motion and Bob McCrea seconding it. New Business: None. Old Business: None. Presentation: Dennis Kintigh presented a power point program on the Effects of Violence on our communities in New Mexico. After the presentation, he answered questions from the group. When questioned, he informed the group that the Mayoral Election and election of several City Councilors is set for Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Early voting will begin February 12, 2014. The filing date to get on the ballot is January 7, 2014. Community Comments: There were no Community Comments. Commissioner’s Comments: Commissioner Tom Dunlap reported that he had written to Xcel Electric regarding their proposal to raise electrical rates. He had received communication from Xcel that the raise would be less than he had originally been told. He was also told that his objections would be considered when the final action was taken. Chairperson Lynne Ybarra reminded the group that there will be no commission meeting in December. The January 15, 2014, meeting will be held at Beehive Homes.
