CITY COMMISSION ON AGING MEETING

Themeeting,heldat BeeHiveSeniorLiving,wascalledto orderat 4:05P.M.by
Chairperson
Ybana. PresentwereCommissioners Ybarra,Nelson,Dunlap,Adams,
Montgomery,& City CouncilorHuckabee.A quorumwaspresent,but no business couldbe
conductedbecause
of a City technicality,
sothelastminuteswerenot approved.6 residents
were
present.
It wasrecognized
thatCouncilorHuckabee's mother,DorothyHuckabee,
hadpassed
and
that shehadenhancedsocialservicesfor the City of Roswellfor manyyears.
Dunlappresented the new nursinghomeMedicaidrulesfor 2014(attached).Theaverage
valueof a dwellingin ChavesCountyis $80,000,00andestaterecoverycannotattachvalues
belowthatsum. Bewellnm.com is wheremiddleclassfolkscancheckwhethertheycannow
obtainMedicaidfor healthservices.Residentquestions
aboutMedicaidandMedicarewere
answered.
Dunlapsuggested we startmeetingin nursinghomesalso,andthat whenwe do meetwe
asktheadministrator of nursingandassistedliving facilitiesto askthepolicechiefto provide
activeshootertrainingfor nursingandassistedliving staff.
MorganNelsonurgedsupportfor theENMURbondissuepassage.
Therebeingno furtherbusiness,
anduponmotionmadeby Dunlapandseconded by Julie
Adamsandunanimously approved,themeetingwasadjourned
by ChairYbanaat 4:40P.M.
