MINUTES OF THE KEEP ROSWELL BEAUTIFUL BOARD

A. CALL TO ORDER
Mike Clarke called the October 26, 2020 meeting to order at 12:03 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL
The following were present:
Members: Matthew Pacheco, Megan Cederberg, Mike Clarke.
Staff present: Thalia Pantoja- Gruis, Merideth Hildreth
Guests present: Rita Kane-Doerhoefer, Donna
C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Member Clarke motioned to approve the agenda; member Cederberg seconded, a voice
vote was unanimous. Motion passed.
D. REGULAR / NEW ITEMS
1. Approval of the minutes from August 31, 2020 meeting. Member Cederberg made the
motion to approve. Member Clarke seconded the motion, voice vote was unanimous.
Minutes were approved.
2. Approval of the minutes from September 28, 2020 meeting. Member Clarke made the
motion to approve. Member Cederberg seconded the motion, voice vote was unanimous.
Minutes were approved.
3. Consideration and vote on recommendation to fill board vacancy for partial term.
Member Cederberg made the motion to approve the recommendation of Donna Daniels
to sit on the board. Member Clarke seconded the motion. Voice vote was unanimous.
4. Discussion with committee to divert current grant funds for recycling promotion to
buy benches and signage on waste reduction. Committee agreed it was a great use of
funds. Staff liaison will move forward with budget amendment with state office.
E. INFORMATION ITEMS
5. Informational and updates report from staff liaison, Thalia Pantoja-Gruis. Provide
update on Gardening Workshop event, which has 241 views and looking forward to
the next Gardening Workshop date tentative for December. Zoo landscaping update
for the beautification funds, Zoo has spent $3,000 and has $1,500 remaining.
Citizens have requested clean-up supplies and $953.84 have been spent on
supplies so far. Recycled Art Contest was hosted with RMAC (provided photos of
the winners of the art contest), total of 11 entries. Discussed purchase of graffiti
removal supplies and other miscellaneous items. Review remaining funds and
budget.
6. Discussed upcoming initiatives and Arbor Day planning for 2021, which will follow
COVID-safe guidelines. Committee will review designs for signage that promotes
KRB initiatives and recognizes community members.

Mike Clarke called the August 31, 2020 meeting to order at 12:07 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL
The following were present:

Guests present: June Ogle, Donna Daniel.
C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Member Pacheco motioned to approve the agenda; member Cederberg seconded, a
voice vote was unanimous. Motion passed.
D. REGULAR / NEW ITEMS
1. Election of chair. Member Clarke nominated member Pacheco as chair. Mem ber
Cederberg seconded the motion, voice vote was unanimous. Member Pacheco was
elected chair.
2. Election of vice chair. Member Cederberg nominated member Clarke as vice chair.
Member Clarke seconded the motion, voice vote was unanimous. Member Clarke was
elected Vice Chair.
E. INFORMATION ITEMS
3. Review of meeting process with committee members to ensure proper meeting
procedures moving forward.
4. Informational and updates report from staff liaison, Thalia Pantoja-Gruis.
Tentative gardening workshop set for September 21, 2020. Clean-up supplies is
now available for organizations and individuals seeking supplies to complete litter
clean-ups. Discussed the possibility of adjusting future clean-up events to abide by
state health orders. The recycling center was in its last day of operation August 31,
2020. Information on the Keep Roswell Beautiful intern will be available to the
committee to review prior to sending out the information to schools. Full details to be
provided to the committee on the upcoming Recycled Art Contest in the September
meeting. A new bus shelter is now installed by NMMI thanks to the previous year’s
grant funding.
G. PUBLIC COMMENTS
6. Public Comments-
Donna Daniel, citizen, just wanted to let the committee know she was new to town
and wanted to know what the committee does and learn how to be involved in Keep
Roswell Beautiful.
