Roswell Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting March 25, 2013 Commission Members Present: Bob Edwards James Edwards Mandy Owens and Jim Waldrip Mike Drager joined in by phone. Others Present: Laura Januszewski, Amy McVay Davis, Diane Stallard, Jay Shelton, Paula Hoover, Jerry Childress, Diane Taylor, Jane Oldrup, Barbara Patterson, Juan Oropesa, Dusty Huckabee, Phelps Anderson, Elena Velasquez, Tom Ruiz, Randall Kennedy, Jose Zavala, Roman Villegas, Suzie Waldrop, Milo Silva, Ben Ramirez, David Valenzuela The Roswell Parks and Recreation Commission meeting took place at the Roswell Parks and Recreation Conference room and was called to order by Bob Edwards at 6:01 pm. Mandy Owens motioned to approve the agenda, James Edwards seconded the motion all were in favor. James Edwards motioned to accept the minutes and Mandy Owens seconded the motion and all were in favor. There were no community comments. Consider new appointment to commission seat. The Commission received a resignation from Sarah McArthur and now has received the resignation from Mike Dragger who is moving to California and can no longer fulfill his duties. Bob Edwards turned in 4 names to the Mayor: Mark Boyd, Mark Cole, Roy Gunn, and Jane Ann Oldrup. Commission Reports No outstanding commission reports Staff reports A. Fees and Charges Changes Fees and charges changes and schedules will postponed until the new members of the Commission are appointed. B. Update on Stiles Field- Fencing and Parking The gentleman for the fencing will be in town March 26, 2013. Bob Edwards asked James Edwards to get with Ken to get him the length that will be required. James has already spoken with Ken about what will be needed. C. Wool bowl project update Everything is on schedule and grass is in the processes of going in. D. Update on the Amateur Radio Club Building The City Attorney is waiting on information on electricity costs. There were some repairs that needed to be done and from the City Attorney’s understanding they have been completed or in the process of being completed. E. Renaming of the Spring River Golf Course to the Nancy Golf Course Citizens who spoke in favor of renaming the Golf Course: Diane Taylor, Jerry Childress, Roman Villegas along with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Phelps Anderson, Suzie Waldrip, Tim Jennings, Elena Velasquez, Citizens who spoke against renaming the Golf Course: Randall Kennedy and Jay Shelton James Edwards moved to rename the Spring River Golf Course to the Nancy Lopez Spring River Golf Course. Mandy Owens seconded and all were in favor. New Business James Edwards brought up an issue with the East Side Little League Baseball field and the Boys and Girls club. The fence that was put up around the Boys and Girls Club has been continuously locked. East Side League has not been able to practice because of them keeping the gate locked. The City Attorney will talk to the City Planner to see what can be done. Next meeting will be April 29, 2013. Mandy Owens moved to adjourn, James Edwards seconded the motion all were in favor. Meeting adjourned at 7:28 pm.
