Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting April 29, 2013 Present: Jane Ann Oldrup, Bob Edwards, Elaine Mayfield, Dwain Brown, James Edwards, Roy Gunn, Jared Kulunki, Mandy Owens 1. Called to order Bod Edwards called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. 2. Agenda Approval James Edwards motioned to approve the agenda with the change of the Girls Soccer Scoreboard to be changed to Girls Softball Scoreboards and Jane Ann Seconded and all were in favor. 3. Approval of Minutes Mandy Owens made correction to minutes would like to have minutes more detailed and change name on phone to Dwain Brown. Dwain Brown motioned to approve, Mandy Owens Seconded. 4. Community Comments No Community Comments 5. Welcoming New Commission Members- Roy Gunn & Jane Ann Oldrup Bob Edwards welcomed Jane Ann Oldrup and Roy Gunn and explained when the commission meets. 6. Commission Reports No Commission Reports 7. Staff Reports A. Update on Stiles Field – Fencing & Parking James Edwards talked to Ken and there are a few areas that are not fenced. The Cost of the project will be approximately $10,000 the league pledged $2,250. This is just to enclose the opened areas and not redo the whole fence. James Edwards would like to get the project expedited. They have been waiting 3 years. James Edwards motioned to accept the $2,250 from the league, Jane Ann Oldrup seconded and all were in favor. B. Girls Softball Scoreboard Update James Edwards understood that the softball league would purchase the softball scoreboard but the City turned it down. The football league has been paying to help the cost of the upkeep and feels that it’s not right to turn down money from people that would like to help. The money could help with other projects. Bob Edwards stated that he wasn’t sure why it was turned down. Bob Edwards would like to state that the Commission isn’t rambunctious that they make recommendations. Jim Waldrop would like to know what happens when the Commission meets and then the Committee meets and they don’t mention anything about the recommendations. 8. Unfinished Business None 9. New Business Elaine Mayfield stated that rumor is that on Monday the City Manager will be bringing in a person from Flordia for second interview. Party on River will be this weekend at Cielo Grande. There will be car show and balloon rally which starts at 1 pm. Elaine gave a demonstration of where the events will take place. Consider and Set Next Meeting Date – TBD Mandy Owens motioned to have next meeting June 24, 2013 Jane Ann Oldrup seconded motion. Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 6:36 pm.
