MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION June 19, 2017 REGULAR MEETING 6:00 PM. Call to Order Chair Mandy Owens, called the June 19, 2017 meeting to order at 6:01 pm. The following were present: Members: Chair Mandy Owens, Vice-Chair JaneAnn Oldrup, James Edwards, and Meagan Sanders. Staff present: Jim Burress, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Lisa Rosales, Administrative Assistant. APPROVAL OF AGENDA JaneAnn Oldrup made a motion, seconded by James Edwards, to approve the agenda as presented. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed, the June 19, 2017 agenda was approved. APPROVAL OF MINUTES JaneAnn Oldrup made a motion, seconded by James Edwards, to approve the minutes of the May 15, 2017 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the May 15, 2017 minutes were approved. NON-ACTION ITEMS 2. Update on Local Participants for the National Senior Olympic Games-Sara Hall Sara was unable to attend the meeting. Mandy Owens stated that she did very well winning first place in her race. Mrs. Owens was unsure of the other results for the Roswell participants. 3. Update on Races-Sara Hall Mandy Owens announced the Alien Chase would be the next race and would be great to have volunteers to help with the course. 4. Discussion on Future Cell Tower Surrounding Areas- Bill Morris Mr. Morris did not show to the meeting, this item was skipped. 5. Update on Recreation Supervisor Position-Jim Burress Mr. Burress stated that second interviews were being scheduled and the position would soon be filled. 6. Directors Report-Jim Burress Mr. Burress announced that he is officially the new Parks and Recreation Director. Jim stated starting Friday he will be analyzing staff needs, room availability and marketing and Programing for the department as a whole. OTHER BUSINESS JaneAnn asked the status of the Golf RFP. Jim stated that the contract is ready to start negotiations with Kemper Sports. Mandy Owens also asked if any signage could be put on the trail to stop motorist from driving on the trail. Mr. Burress stated that signs are up and if people see motorist driving on the trail to contact him so he can talk to the people. PUBLIC COMMENTS NONE ADJOURN Next meeting will be July 17, 2017. JaneAnn made a motion, seconded by Meagan Sanders to adjourn, all were in favor, meeting adjourned at 6:34 pm.
