Public Safety Committee Meeting Held at Roswell Convention Center Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting convened at 4:30 p.m. with Councilor Jeanine Best presiding, Councilor Savino Sanchez, Councilor Judy Stubbs, and Councilor Angela Moore present. Staff Present: Mike Mathews, Deputy City Manager; Jill Pollock, RFD; Karen Sanders, Emergency Services Manager; Matt Miller, Chief RFD; Bill Bartlett, Code Enforcement; Alison Herring, PVRCC; Louis Najar, City Engineer; Miguel Martinez, Planning and Zoning; and Phil Smith, Chief RPD. AGENDA APPROVAL 1. Councilor Stubbs moved to approve the agenda with the following change: Move number 5 non-action item under item 2. Councilor Sanchez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2. Councilor Stubbs moved to approve minutes from the December 15, 2020 Public Safety Meeting. Councilor Moore was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed. NON-ACTION ITEMS 5. Traffic complaints for the area of Wyoming and Alameda were discussed. Joe and Rosa Valadez spoke regarding accidents in this area. Mike Matthews and Louis Najar spoke about the city’s current and future response. Mike Matthews stated this will be put back on the agenda for review in March. REGULAR ITEMS 3. Condemnation Resolution 20-XX: Councilor Moore moved to send Resolution 20-XX to the full council on the consent agenda, as presented. Councilor Stubbs was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed. 4. Amendment to Chapter 16 (Nuisances) of the city code: Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Mathews presented changes to Chapter 16 of the city code. The Committee reviewed the changes in each section and discussed further changes to be presented at the February 16th 2021, Public Safety Meeting. Further discussion will take place at the February meeting. No action was taken. INFORMATION 6. Department Updates: Chief Smith from the Roswell Police Department came forward and gave department updates. 7. Next meeting will be February 16, 2021 CHAIR ANNOUNCEMENT/REPORTS 8. Monthly Reports for Police, Fire, Consolidated Dispatch, Emergency Management and Animal Control departments are located in the Public Safety agenda packet.
