Public Safety Committee Meeting Held at Roswell City Hall Large Conference Room Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10-15-4, NMSA 1978 and Resolution 22-14. The meeting convened at 4:30 p.m. with Councilor Julianna Halvorson presiding, Councilor Berry Foster, and Councilor Savino Sanchez, present. Councilor Jeanine Best was absent. Staff Present: Mike Mathews, Deputy City Manager; Matt Miller, Chief RFD; Phil Smith, Chief RPD; Toby Franco, Code Enforcement; Teri Best, PVRCC; Fire Marshal Jared Olive, RFD; and Kevin Maevers, COR Community Development; Mike Taylor, Deputy Chief RPD; Louis Najar, City Engineer. AGENDA APPROVAL 1. Councilor Foster moved to approve the agenda as presented. Councilor Sanchez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed with Councilor Best being absent. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2. Councilor Foster moved to approve minutes, as presented, from the April 19, 2022 Public Safety Meeting. Councilor Sanchez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed with Councilor Best being absent. REGULAR ITEMS 3. Condemnation Resolution 22-XX: Councilor Foster moved to send Resolution 22-XX, containing three properties to the full council on the consent agenda, as presented, with a recommendation to approve. Councilor Sanchez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, and the motion passed with Councilor Best being absent. NON-ACTION ITEMS 4. None INFORMATION 5. Department Updates: Fire Chief Matt Miller, and Police Chief Phil Smith gave Department updates, regarding recruiting and staffing. All other department representatives were present to answer questions. CHAIR ANNOUNCEMENT/REPORTS 6. Monthly Reports for Police, Fire, Consolidated Dispatch, Emergency Management and Animal Control departments are located in the Public Safety agenda packet. 7.
