Board of Trustees Meeting Meeting Minutes Monday, February 10, 2014 @ 4:00 pm Bassett Auditorium Members Present: Joyce Tucker, Ivan Hall, Lorie Mitteer, Rey Berrones, Tom Tutor Melinda Gonzalez Members Absent: Sashua Patton, Jason Garcia, Jamie Barnes, Peggy Krantz, Carolyn Sidd Others Present: Staycye Hunter, Barbara Patterson, Stephen Vollmer, Sara Woodbury, Deborah Melancon Call to Order: 4:05 pm President’s Remarks: Joyce Tucker: Opened with remarks asking for members of the board to who would be available to serve as Committee Chairs to please contact her at their convenience. Approval of Minutes: Tom Tutor moved to accept the minutes, Ivan seconded: all were in favor and the motion carried without dissent. Financial Report: Deborah Melancon, Bookkeeper Provided the report of financials/expenses to date. Membership Report: Tabled: The desk is being reorganized Director’s Report: 1. Michael Hall has accepted the appointment as the Director of the RMAC and will begin on Friday, February 21. 2. Meredith Bennett and Sara Woodbury have been elected to the Board of the New Mexico Association of Museums and will serve as the Southeastern Regional Representatives; their participation provides the RMAC with a standing presence throughout the State. 3. Through the week of January 20, Stephen Vollmer representing the RMAC was in Puebla, Mexico, serving as panelist in an international conference Baroque Alliances, sponsored by the Ministry of Education. 4. Sara Woodbury travelled to the Albuquerque/Sta. Fe area, visiting artists/studios; museum curators, and gallery representatives who serve as critical contacts in the development of future exhibitions.  5. Two sculptures from the RMAC permanent collection, by the New Mexican folk artists Felipe Archuleta and Alfonso Jimenez, were picked up for an upcoming show at the International Museum of Folk Art. 6. Several works from the permanent collection have recently been photographed for upcoming RMAC exhibits and to accommodate requests from other museums that are in the process of organizing exhibitions and catalogues. 7. The RMAC’s Bassett Auditorium will serve as one of the City’s designated municipal polling stations for the upcoming elections. 8. The RMAC Foundation‘s Kentucky Derby Party will take place on Saturday, May 3. 9. Winter classes began, with majority filled. 10. On the evening of January 31, New Mexican clay artist Deborah Fritts spoke on her work in the Bassett Auditorium. In conjunction with Fritts’ talk, the Pecos Potters Guild hosted a 2 day clay workshop (2.1.14 – 2.2.14). 11. February’s Second Saturday program presented a special workshop on Cyanotypes with Derek Chan and Jessica Kirkpatrick. Several new students participated in the class. 12. The Robert H. Goddard Planetarium is the designated site for a free debut performance of Tiros Won! aka, Ven Voisey. 13. The Winter Film Series Dramático, continues with showings on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. in the Bassett Auditorium. 14. Kim Wiggins' painting workshop in March is full. 15. Four new docents have recently signed up. Acquisitions Committee: N/A Education Committee: N/A Membership Committee: N/A Nominating Committee: N/A New Business: Loan request by museums in Indianapolis, Tacoma, and Corpus Christi with staff recommendations were discussed, with Board actions to take place during the March meeting. Other Business: Ivan Hall requested that the Board look at the process of reviewing the Museum’s long range strategic plan at the next meeting of the Board. BOT Meeting adjourned: Ivan Hall moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:06 pm. The motion was seconded by Lorie Mitteer: all were in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
