Richardson Ave. Roswell, NM 88201 DRAFT DOCUMENT REGULAR MEETING AT 4:00 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10-15-4, NMSA 1978 and Resolution 24-23. For the Record: Meeting is being streamed live for the public through GoToMeeting. There was no public on GoTo Meeting. A. CALL TO ORDER Board Chair West called the meeting of the Board of Trustees to order at 4:06 p.m. B. ROLL CALL The meeting of the Board of Trustees convened with members Lindsay Mayo Fincher, Valli West, Anne Baker, Tim Hartwick, Nina Leacock, and Elisa Begueria present. A quorum was established with members Kay Cargill Jenkins, Jane Avery Gray, and Lorrina Segovia being absent. City Council members present: The museum has not been appointed a city council liaison with the new council members. Staff present: Caroline Brooks, Director, Jessica Parham Educator and Cloe Medrano, Registrar Community members present: Cindy Torrez, Director RMAC Foundation. ACTION ITEMS C. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Baker motioned to approve the agenda. Member Fincher was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, the motion passed 5-0, with members Jenkins, Gray, and Segovia being absent. D. Approval of the March 18, 2024 meeting minutes Member Fincher motioned to approve the March 18, 2024 minutes. Member Begueria was the second. A voice vote was unanimous, the motion passed 5-0, with members Jenkins, Gray, and Segovia being absent. INFORMATION ONLY ITEMS E. Renovation Progress Update Phase 2 of the flooring renovation is being scheduled for the installation of epoxy terrazzo in the north and south corridors of the museum. Work is to begin near the beginning of May and will last about 4 weeks. As of the last City Council Meeting Waide Construction has been awarded the construction project for the Museum Store Move and Lobby Update. F. Reaccreditation Site Visit Review Director Brooks informed the board the Museum has been undergoing reaccreditation which culminated in a site visit by two peer reviewers on April 11 and 12. Based on their findings, they will submit a report to the Accreditation Commission and the Commission will determine the museum’s accreditation standing. Accreditation is the highest mark of achievement for U.S. Museums and provides assurance that the institution maintains the highest standards in the museum field. The museum will know in June if we have been reaccredited. G. Annual Meeting Presentation on 2023 Figures and Highlights The director gave the annual museum presentation for 2023 Figures and Highlights. The museum had 24 continuing, permanent, and new exhibitions. For the year of 2023 the museum had 35,001 total visitors and 530 museum members. The museum accepted a total of 196 donations into the premiant collection. The museum continues to offer clay classes, with two new classes: learning to see drawing and outdoor sketch club. H. Governance Working Group Report The members have found some potential candidates and are sending them more information about being on the board. I. Director’s Report Director Brooks informed the board the new exhibition Regenerative Actions, is presented in partnership with the Santa Fe Art Institute, draws from the Institute’s 2023 artist-in-residence cohort to explore artistic perspectives around a changing climate and environmental renewal. The exhibition will be this Friday April 19 with a reception from 5:30-7:30 pm. J. RMAC Foundation Report The spring fundraiser is May 17, 2024 with the theme being Night on Bourbon. The tickets are now on sale and the event is being catered by Peppers Grill and Bar. K. Chair’s Remarks and Board Announcements None. L. Public Comment None. M.
