CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING 5:00 p.m., January 28th 2014 City Hall 1st Floor Conference Room Commissioners: City/Department Representatives: Toni Bachman, Chairman, Present Freddie Harris, City Council Liaison, Absent Bert Fleck, Present Trey Smith, City Attorney, Present Garrie Kellam, Present Jeff Humphrey, Police Chief, Present Jim Campbell, Present John Cochran, Fire Chief, Present Phillip Lea, Present Tracey Cline-Pew, Human Resources, Absent Chris Vick – Training Coordinator -Present Students from Arkansas Tech Present Meeting Minutes Chairman Toni Bachman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. The Commission reviewed the minutes of the November meeting. Jim Campbell made a motion that the minutes be approved. Bert Fleck seconded the motion and the minutes were approved. OLD BUSINESS Civil Service Commission • None. Police • Verified Promotional Testing – March 1st written test. March 6th Assessment Panel (at the police dept) Fire Department 1) Reviewed 2013 Firefighter Entry Certified List, Promotional List & Fire Fighter Captain List 2) Need – Driver, Captain and Battalion Chief. Suggest promotion test by the end of May. Committee will decided by next meeting. 3) Discussed Tier Level Fitness and a point system to add to the rating form. (See Handout). This addresses their fitness level. The fire chief presented a point system for the commission to approve. Bert moved to approve the point system as presented. Jim Campbell 2nd motion. Motion approved. 4) Chris & Chief went over written exam materials. All the materials have been revised to newer additions. Fire Dept plans to go to the “Newest Edition”. NEW BUSINESS Civil Service Commission • None. Fire Department 1) Provided a list of resignations and appointments. 2) Paperwork supplied. Police Department • None. At 5:25 p.m. Garrie Kellam made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Jim Campbell seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
