Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission Minutes January 19, 2016 The Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference Room on the second floor. Attending: Director Stephanie Warwick, City Attorney Trey Smith, Chairman Garland Steuber, Vice- Chairman/Commissioner David Lee, Commissioner/Secretary Mindy Hudson, Commissioner Rebecca Howell, Finance Director Jerry McKaughan, Mayor Randy Horton, and visitor Sean Ingram from the Courier. Absent: City Liaison Robert Wiley. Commissioner Patricia Petray, Commissioner Anna Fields, Commissioner Donna Eubanks. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairman Garland Steuber. Opening statements: City Attorney Trey Smith commented that tonight the commission lacked a quorum, and so the commission could not vote on any agenda items. Chairman Garland Steuber asked that everyone consider the vote next month for a new chairman, vice- chairman and secretary. Old Business: The First Order of Business was considering the minutes from the December 15, 2015, Cemetery Regular Meeting. A vote for approval was delayed until the next meeting. Commissioner Howell noted a mistake with names in the first order of business. The Second Order of Business was the monthly financial report given by Finance Director McKaughan. At year's end, the cemetery fund held $26,099.91. Additionally, ten cemetery lots were sold. The financial report was concluded. The Third Order of Business was the Director Stephanie Warwick's monthly Overall Operations Report. The Columbarium is now in place. Stage one of the garden has begun with the sidewalk surrounding the Columbarium. She is now selling spaces. Two niches were sold last week, and the director has appointments to sell up to four more. Other areas in the new addition eventually will be opened for traditional burials. By spring, the new road should be in place. It will probably be summer before the whole section is opened. There have been several positive phone calls and a lot of interest drawn over the new addition. She is considering a short press release to notify the public of our progress. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 PM.
