Oakland Cemetery Commission Minutes Tuesday January 23, 2024 The Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission met for the monthly meeting on Tuesday January 23rd at 5:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room of City Hall. The meeting was moved a week due to snow and ice on the regular meeting date. The time was also moved up thirty minutes to 5:00pm. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Commission Chair Mindy Hudson. Attending in Person: Director Stephanie Warwick, Commission Chair Mindy Hudson, Commission Vice-Chair Mary Schwartz, Commission Secretary Jami Mullen, and Commissioner Walter Hudson. Attending via Google Meets: Commissioner Cindy Hlass Director Warwick noted that a quorum was present. Old Business: 1. First Item of Business was to review the Minutes from December 19, 2023. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Commissioner Walter Hudson. The second was made by Commissioner Mary Schwartz. Motion passed. 2. Second Item of Business was to consider the Financial Report status update, presented by Commissioner Mary Schwartz. She reported on current activity. The year end checking account balance for 2023 is $94,981.72. The end of year Trust account balance is $160,515.33. 3. Third Item of Business was to open the floor to the public to address concerns / comments. There was no one present to address the Commission. New Business: 1. First Item of Business was to yield the floor to Director Warwick as she updated the group as to the term endings for each Commissioner. Commissioners Cindy Hlass and Mary Schwartz’s terms will end December 2024. Commissioner Mindy Hudson’s term will end December 2026. Commissioners Walter Hudson and Jami Mullen’s terms will end December 2027. 2. The Second Item of Business was to elect officers for the 2024 year. Commissioner Mindy Hudson made a motion to elect Walter Hudson as Commission Chairman for 2024. The second was made by Jami Mullen. The motion passed. Commissioner Jami Mullen made the motion to elect Commissioner Mary Schwartz to continue in her role as Vice Chairman and Finance Reporter. Walter Hudson made the second. Motion passed. Commissioner Schwartz made a motion to elect Jami Mullen to continue as Commission Secretary. Commissioner Walter Hudson made the second. Motion passed. 3. Third Item of Business was to discuss the meeting schedule and time for 2024. The Commission came to consensus that the meeting start time will be moved to 5:00pm. The 2024 meeting dates will be decided at the February meeting. Director Warwick will look at the 2024 calendar for special event and workshop dates to discuss at the February meeting. 4. Items Not on the Agenda: Director Warwick stated that her office is waiting on payment from Progressive Insurance for the automobile accident damage done at Oakland Cemetery. Once payment is received she will be able to move forward with Sign Hub to have the new sign made and installed on the property.
