RUSSELLVILLE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MINUTES
January 23, 2024, 5:00 p.m.,

Meeting Minutes
Commissioner Lea moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to approve minutes of October
24, 2023 as presented. The Commission approved the minutes.
Business
There are seven new candidates who have passed the written entry exam for RPD. PAT and
interview are scheduled for Saturday, January 27 at 8am.
The Commission discussed the impact of weather on the physical agility testing. Lightning and
any other severe weather issue should cause us to postpone. The Civil Service Commission will
decide on a case by case basis if the conditions of the course are unsafe or impassible. Chief
Ewing mentioned setting up an indoor physical agility test and testing area in the future. This
was stated as a goal for the year.
Chief Ewing mentioned a change in background software which should shorten the length of
time from application to job offer for new officers.
New hire written testing for February is scheduled for February 8th at 8am.
PAT and interviews for RPD are then scheduled for Saturday February 10th. Jon Brown will
preside over the PAT and interviews.
Chief Ewing stated that the police department immediately has six opening to hire and expect to
have two more within the first half of 2024.
RFD raised a personnel issue. The commission moved into executive session to discuss the issue.
