Regular Council Meeting January 9, 2023 Assistant Mayor Kathy Rupp called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In attendance were Stan Townsend, Darwin Sietsema, Brian Baartman. Also in attendance was Chris McCurdy. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Stan Townsend and Darwin Sietsema took Oath of Office. Chris McCurdy was the only one sending in a letter showing interest on filling the council vacancy. M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/cd unanimously to appoint Chris McCurdy to fill the council vacancy until a Special Election is held during the next General Election. Chris McCurdy took Oath of Office. Minutes of the December meeting were approved by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. Organization Resolution 2023-01 was adopted and approved by M/Baartman 2/McCurdy/cd unanimously. OFFICIAL DEPOSITORY – First Independent Bank OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER – Tyler Tribute CITY ATTORNEY – Ben Denton ASSISTANT MAYOR – Kathy Rupp The July 3, 2023 meeting has been changed to July 10, 2023 due to the July Fourth Holiday. The September 4, 2023 meeting has been changed to September 11, 2023 due to the Labor Day holiday. The January 1, 2024 meeting has been changed to January 8, 2024 due to the New Year’s Holiday. These changes were approved by M/Sietsema 2/McCurdy/cd unanimously. Bollig Engineering sent down bids for Sewer Main Jetting & Televising. Bids were received from Nelson Sanitation for $19,750.00; from Empire Pipe Service for $21,765.00; from Johnson Jetline for $26,268.00; from HydroKlean for $30,911.00; and from Visu-Sewer for $43,300.00. After much discussion, the council decided to go with the bid from Nelson Sanitation for $19,750.00 by M/Sietsema 2/Rupp/cd unanimously. Mayor Stan Townsend read Wasterwater Supervisor Darrin Haroldson’s report for the month of December. The December bills were presented and approved by M/Rupp 2/Baartman/cd unanimously. It was approved to sign the Audit Agreement with Meulebroeck, Taubert and Co. to do the city’s annual audit for the year 2022 by M/Baartman 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. The meeting went into closed session for employee reviews. Both Darrin Haroldson and Rochelle VanderWoude received a $1.50 wage increase. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm by M/Sietsema 2/McCurdy/cd.
