Council Meeting

Regular Council Meeting May 13, 2024 Mayor Stan Townsend called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Council members in attendance were Darwin Sietsema, Chris McCurdy, and Stu Peterson. Absent was Brian Baartman. Also in attendance were Mark Klema, Jordan Odegard and Darrin Haroldson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all those in attendance. Minutes of the April meeting and the April 11, 2024 Board of Review meeting were approved by M/Sietsema 2/Peterson/cd unanimously. Mark Klema and Jordan Odegard from Bollig Engineering were here with updates for the council on the infrastructure and lead service projects. Wastewater Supervisor, Darrin Haroldson gave the council his report for the month of April and answered the council’s questions. Building permits for Milt Voss for a 30’ x 24’ driveway approach in the back at 341 Main Street; for CHS, Inc for a 26’ x 30’ office building with 4’ x 30’ sidewalk at 201 Main Street; and for Curt Baartman for a 8’ x 50’ x 5’ cedar picket fence at 341 Cleveland Street were approved by M/Peterson 2/Sietsema/cd unanimously. The April bills were presented and approved by M/McCurdy 2/Peterson/cd. Mayor Stan Townsend made a proclamation that the month of May 2024 as Poppy Month in the City of Ruthton and ask that all citizens pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom by wearing the Memorial Poppy during this month.
