AGENDA FOR REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL MAY 22, 2024 7:00 PM COURT ROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING At approximately 6:30 PM, the Mayor and Council will hold a work session in the Conference Room for the purpose of reviewing agenda items and signing bills. No official action will be taken during this time. Pledge of allegiance and moment of silence. 1. Call to order at 7:00 PM. 2. A resolution approving and dispensing with the reading of the minutes of the last regular meeting of May 8, 2024. OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: 3. A resolution confirming the appointments of Department of Public Works Seasonal Part-Time Laborers, Andrew Button, Salamanca, NY and Cameron Davis, Salamanca, NY as effective May 20, 2024, and Tristen Gillette effective June 3, 2024, at $17.20 per hour, up to 30 hours per week. Sponsor: Council Member Hill 4. A resolution to appoint personnel for the Summer Playground and Arts Alive Program for the 2024 season from July 1, 2024 through August 23, 2024 for a maximum of 25 hours per week, at the NYS minimum wage. Sponsor: Mayor Magiera and Council Member Reed 5. A resolution authorizing a lease agreement between the City of Salamanca and the Salamanca Area Senior Center, Inc. for 18-20 Main Street and authorizing the Mayor to sign such agreement. Sponsor: Mayor Magiera 6. A resolution in support of the Seneca Nation with regard to Clean and Safe water within the Allegheny River. Sponsor: Mayor Magiera 7. Certain appointments by the Mayor and Common Council. 8. A resolution to waive the agenda rule to consider other items(s), if necessary. a. A resolution to approve the Settlement Agreement and Release in relation to Civil Action No. 21-CV-00833, as presented, and authorizes the Mayor to execute the same on behalf of the City of Salamanca. b. A resolution to appoint Caleb McCormick, Great Valley, NY, as Probationary Full-time Dispatcher, from the Civil Service list, effective May 23, 2024, according to the current union contract, with fifty-two weeks of probation.  c. A resolution to appoint Caleb McCormick, Great Valley, NY, as Probationary Full-time Police Officer, from the Civil Service list, effective June 5, 2024, according to the current union contract, with fifty-two weeks of probation. d. A resolution to appoint Dallas Nickerson, Chaffee, NY, Dusty Tidd, Olean, NY and Joshua Coolidge, Springville, NY, as Probationary Full-time Police Officers to fill the COPS grant positions, from the Civil Service list, effective June 5, 2024, according to the current union contract, with fifty-two weeks of probation. 9. Communications from the Mayor and Council. 10. Reminder of other meetings – May 28th Youth Bureau 4:30, June 4th Fire at 6:30, June 5th IDA at 4:00, June 11th BPU at 6:00, June 11th Library at 4:00, June 12th DPW at 6:00 and the next Regular Council will be June 12th at 7:00.
