COUNCILMEMBERS’ REPORTS, APPOINTMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS CONSIDERATION ID#13-193 Potential Revenue Measure Receive report from Matt Pressey, Finance Director. Recommendation: (1) Direct staff to prepare a RESOLUTION calling an election to ask the voters of the City of Salinas to increase the general transactions and use tax by one cent, with a fifteen year sunset, and with citizens' oversight; and (2) Direct staff to prepare a RESOLUTION calling an election to ask the voters of the City of Salinas to modernize the Utility Users Tax within the City of Salinas by reducing the applicable tax rate and updating the applicability of the Utility Users Tax ; and (3) Direct staff to prepare a RESOLUTION requesting that the Monterey County Board of Supervisors consolidate the election with the established general election to be held on November 4, 2014, and requesting the Monterey County Elections Department to conduct the election on the City's behalf.
