The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: 6- Councilmember Barrera, Councilmember Gonzalez, Councilmember Osornio, Councilmember Rocha, Councilmember Sandoval and Councilmember Valenzuela Absent: 1- Mayor Craig COUNCILMEMBERS’ REPORTS, APPOINTMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Councilmember Osornio commended the Library and Community Services Department and staff for the various community events, ground breakings, and robust public engagement throughout the City. He announced the Prevention and Wellness Grant City of Salinas Page 6 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final October 8, 2024 application period is now open. Councilmember Barrera congratulated Finance Director Selina Andrews on her promotion. He requested the City work with the community and the Iron Workers Union to address their concerns regarding local hire requirements for the Amazon facility construction project. He reported that he attended the March for Peace which was well attended by the community. Councilmember Gonzalez invited the community to attend numerous local events and voter information forums throughout the community. Councilmember Sandoval congratulated Venture Church for their years of service in the community. He invited the community to attend various community events and thanked community volunteers at the California International Airshow. Councilmember Sandoval commended Sgt. Godwin for his years of service. Councilmember Valenzuela commended Assistant to the City Manager Jose Arreola for his support of City Council, consistuents, and local business concerns. He also requested the City Manager work with and support the local iron workers unions. He reported that he attended the 3CE meeting and will be attended AMBAG and other community events. He requested City Manager explore options or a task force to implement and enforce the rent stabilization and rental registry program. Mayor ProTem Rocha invited the community to attended Natividad Neighborhood Park ribbon cutting made possible by ARPA funds. He reported that he attended the Monterey One Water where they approved the submittal of modification to the outfall pipe for the desalination project for CalAM. In closing, he reported that he attended numerous community events to include March for Peace, Ciclovia, Hebbron Family Center groundbreaking, and shared support and advocacy for the iron workers and local hires.
