The Measure G Oversight committee convened in the Rotunda at 4:01 p.m.

CONSENT

Upon motion by Committee member Espindola, second by Committee member
Ortega, the Measure G minutes of May 11, 2017 were approved. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Ayes: 5- Al Espindola, Cesar Lara, Brigid McGrath Massie, Daniel Ortega and Juan Uranga
Absent: 2- Juan Mendoza-Romero and Maureen Wruck
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

Received report from Finance Director Matt Pressey, which is filed in the City Clerk's
Office as the official record.
Committee member Espindola requested Measure G funds be used to offset the cost of

first responder fees.
Upon motion by Committee member Espindola, second by Committee member
Lara, the Review of Independent Audit Report was approved. The motion carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: 5- Al Espindola, Cesar Lara, Brigid McGrath Massie, Daniel Ortega and Juan Uranga
Absent: 2- Juan Mendoza-Romero and Maureen Wruck
ID#17-254 Summary Report of Department Measure G Funded Projects and Programs
Received report from Matt Pressey, Finance Director; Kristan Lundquist, Recreation and
Community Services Superintendent; Jim Pia, Assistant City Manager; Jose Arreola,
Community Safety Administrator; Andy Myrick, Economic Development Manager; Megan
Hunter, Community Development Director; Gary Petersen, Public Works Director; Don
Reynolds, Assistant Public Works Director; Ed Rodriguez, Fire Chief; Adele Fresé, Chief
of Police, which is filed in the City Clerk's Office as the official record.
Received comments about the report from the following members of the public:

Steve Striffler, Sherwood Tennis Center
Committee member Espindola requested staff engage Kayla Bumba, Salinas Senior
Center, to provide input with plans regarding the old municipal pool.
Committee member Uranga asked if it would be possible to use accumulation of unspent
Measure G funds to develop creative programs for at risk youth. Committee member
Uranga further requested the Community Safety Division prepare and present the
Measure Oversight Committee with a list of at risk youth focused programs.
Committee member Lara requested the City Manager and Assistant City Manager look at
possibly funding a part time or full time position that would provide assistance, education
and outreach residents and tenants.
Committee member Espindola requested the Fire Department bring forth a report to the
Measure G Oversight Committee with the amount collected in a year from the first
responder fees. Committee member Lara requested the Fire Department include in their
report, the expense to collect first responder fee.
Committee member Espindola requested the comments be part of the minutes.
Upon motion by Committee member Ortega, second by Committee member
Espindola, the Summary Report of Department Measure G Funded Projects and
Programs was approved. The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: 5- Al Espindola, Cesar Lara, Brigid McGrath Massie, Daniel Ortega and Juan Uranga
Absent: 2- Juan Mendoza-Romero and Maureen Wruck

CONSIDERATIONS
ID#17-252 FY 2017-18 Operating and Capital Improvement Budgets
Matt Pressey Finance Director, provided the report, which is filed in the City Clerk's
Office as the official record.
Upon motion by Committee member Espindola, second by Committee member
Lara, the Fy 2017-18 Operating and Capital Improvement Budget was approved.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: 5- Al Espindola, Cesar Lara, Brigid McGrath Massie, Daniel Ortega and Juan Uranga
Absent: 2- Juan Mendoza-Romero and Maureen Wruck
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Committee member Espindola requested the City Manager post an update of projects
funded by Measure G funds.
Chair McGrath Massie requested that signs be posted to show which projects are being
funded by Measure G funds.
Committee member Uranga requested the Measure G Subcomittee Comments Report
be sent to the the City Council as part of the minutes.
